I think the likelyhood is that it was actually the front springs which were replaced, with 230e springs. The extra weight of the 6 pot engine and the softer spring weight would explain the car sitting on It's nose. As for the rear being so high, was the facelift 124 offered with self leveling...

Just find a second hand diff in a breakers or on eBay and get it whacked in. Just make sure the ratio on the diff matches yours.

After looking at images on t'interweb it does look as though the inner end of the lower arms have oval bolt holes which could explain your camber issues if the tech didn't realise and just slung them in...

Although after searching eBay listings for coupe interiors I may very well be wrong (again.. ha). It seems as though the coupe does have only 2 rear seats but they are just that, seperate seats. All the images I've viewed have shown the base cushions in 2 pieces and the seat back in 2 pieces...

If you've got a good steady hand and a lot of patience could you not strip the individual switches down to a component level and clean the contacts with metal cleaner or are they sealed on a printed circuit board?
