Hi balge...firstly cheers for the response however I have no idea what you mean by 'handed'..I've seen them selling on eBay and they list position eg: front left or rear left...so I'm guessing I'll need to know before I buy..??

ALSO...anyone know of any 'cheapish' scanners, used to be able to get the ones on ebay for the old BMW e46 is there any for the mercies... cheers

Hi all, i fixed mthe biggest problem yet with the faulty gearbox by changing the car battery, i have a code error for a faulty wheel speed sensor (friend scanned it but it didnt say which one) so without paying a fortune on the STAR is there a way of finding out which one it is, other than using...

I could be wrong BUT check your battery, can't emphasise enough...my 320 clk was not finding gear, and lack of power etc. i had the tranny oil changed, no joy...through luck i parked her up for a few days..and the battery drained...jumped her, ran for a day and drained...so i changed the battery...

You were bang on...left pos untightened... SO there we have it..anyone in the same boat CHECK THE BATTERY..I had my tranny fluid looked for no reason..was about to replace a wheel sensor..and all the time it just needed a battery.. I can even switch the ASC on and off too!! No reset nothing...

Update... Ok so I borrowed a battery of a mechanic he said it was from a big van..lol Swapped battery and started her up..NO abs lights etc...so I set of driving put her into D and after a few yards..cut out...stop key out then in starts again in D after a few yards cut out??? So I put her...

julesprivate hi and thanks, yes it's not kicking down...now to go further, the guy who sold it said he was told it needed the tranny fluid doing so i did it, however with some uneducated guesswork here... i have access to another car, if i was driving the merc a few days in a row the ABS light...

and alos how would i know if its the battery or maybe the starter relay...sorry for all the questions and the newbie panic.

would i need to reset the ECU or anything though after installing a new battery

thanks Jadefox well i had the tranny fluid changed and that did nothing...so im really curious, it obviously needs one like you say it shouldn't drain after being stood for a few days..

Ongoing problem here with 320 clk driving out of gear..only fault code coming up is wheel speed sensor. Abs/asc lights used to come on and off....So update I parked her up and I have use of another car Week later...battery dead Jumped..started straight off..abs/asc lights on Gear problem...

curious can anyone help...been having trouble with car driving out of gear and so far struggled to get it to a STAR machine as the nearest one want £100 an hour!!!! checked MAF HOWEVER I was told by a guy at Mercedes Leeds that it sounds like the gear selector box..which would explain...

Well as I've said I was having major problems with the 320 auto not finding gears and revving like nuts...a lot if people said change tranny fluid..so I did...at a cost of £50 and no joy... I was all set to take it to the STAR reader for £57 when someone Suggested it sounded like a MAF...

Update...got a clip and now secured it, drove to petrol station and it was worse than ever..jiggled it a bit and driving back it was bob on...but the abs\asc light went out...

I'm just wondering if it would have such a detrimental effect though...as its £30 for a lid to get the clip...?

Actually just looked again the clip is part of the filter box...
