Clk brakes, disk and pads change

Just a word of warning to fellow MB members and CLK owners, do not think it will be easy if your brakes are like mine, I found out the hard way today, seized and snapped bolts, corrosion, hours of hammering and drilling out of retaining bolts..what should've been an half hour job each side...

    Rotary Polishing

Received the triple pack of Menzerna polishes and the pads I ordered today Menzerna 250ml Polish Sample Kit - Elite Car Care and decided to hit the car with the rotary. Bloody brilliant stuff, only used the two of the polishes so far on the bonnet, roof and boot lid, but the results are...

    Autoglym SRP

Good stuff for CLEANING paintwork but even with a rotary polisher it will not cut any defects out of nano-ceramic MB clearcoat (post late 2003/2004) on metallic paint, I'm going to try G3 next (before splashing the cash on Menerza, 3M or Megs 105 and 205). That Mercedes clear coat is bloody hard...

    Car Drying Towel

Looking for a good large microfibre drying towel for the car instead of the chamois and sponge? Buy a dog drying mf towel, £2 from B & M Stores and 1100 X 700 mm size. Mines got a paw print on it (who cares), but the car was dry and mark free in under 3 minutes, including the glass! Bloody...

    Armor All Tyre Foam

Found some today (G Jays, Alfreton) at £2.99, was doubtful but thought what the hell, best tyre dressing I've ever used, superb, not too glossy, non of that painted on muck, just a clean semi gloss sheen after washing the wheels and tyres (Falken 914's front. Conti SC's rear) with a brush...

    Best Engine (exhaust) note

Was thinking about this today (dont ask why, it just popped into my head) and bizarrely over and above all the big engined cars the Fiat 124 coupe (or spider) had the best rasp I've ever heard, followed by Fulvia's (Lancia) and GTA Alpha's.....whats yours?

    Stone Chip Repair

Nice day today and a day off (suffering a hangover from my mate coming around last night) so I thought I'd start tackling the stone chips ,washed the car with normal car shampoo (Simoniz wax free shampoo), washed the affected areas (bonnet, front bumper, leading roof area, and lower doors areas)...

    CLK Sway or Roll?

My CLK has started to roll (or sway) a bit on uneven roads mainly from the rear (or feels like the rear) any ideas, ARB's or shocks? No knocks or clangs just a soft 'ship at sea' roll and the car not feeling positive on the road. Any pointers welcome!

    CDI mpg improvement

Just thought I'd share this. I've been using diesel Redex and two stoke oil for the last few months (both from Wilko's, £2 for the Redex, £3 for the 500ml T2 Jaso FB grade) both will do two full tank fulls and have been achieving a consistent 10% improvement in economy and a much quieter cold...

CDI MPG real world v OBD (clk 270 CDI)

Hi folks can anyone help with this problem? I did 220 miles over the last few days (from a fill up) and driving on open roads (mainly traffic free roads and no town traffic driving and I was driving the car like a saint) I averaged about 43mpg via the OBD (the best being two 50 odd mile trips...

Strange Audio problem (Audio 20 and HK speakers)

Can anyone help, my 2005 CLK audio seems to go up and down and from surround (fronts and rears) to stereo (fronts) on its own occasionally. I have the standard Audio 20 and the Harman/Kardon speakers, I'm not sure if its caused by the radio locking on to stronger signals or radio broadcasts...

CLK (w209) Ashtray cover not closing

Hi I started putting my works pass (a photo credit card sized jobby) in the ashtray of the CLK w209 (05) for easy access at the gatehouse and it must of slipped as I couldn't open the ashtray cover easily this morning. Anyway a hard push opened it but now it wont 'latch' closed. Any ideas? Is it...

New member Derbyshire CLK 270 CDI

Hi, had the CLK a week now and love it. Its a late 2004 (2005 facelift) in Jasper Blue with black leather (mint). Only problem is the cold running never going above 60 and corresponding low heat from the heater, so I've ordered a new thermostat after reading other threads on here (thanks!)...
