Should I walk away from this SL - and a warning

As an owner of an SL500 I can certainly understand why folks prefer an 320/350. In spite of a FSH and low mileage have had lots of problems with water in the boot and more recently under passenger seat due to a blocked drain hole. I have described these in some detail in my post on SL500...

Very enjoyable outing and good to meet you all. Like your SL BTB, hope to see it in the flesh sometime :). Managed to keep my SL clean and shiny until a trip to Wales on Wednesday in the rain.

    Snow Foam, really that good?

I have a foam sprayer for the hose and it's just not as good as the one I use with my Karcher pressure washer.

    Favourite Shampoo

Liked using Poorboy's Super Slick & Suds Shampoo after trying Swissvax Car Bath which didn't work out very well for me. Have now switched to GTechniq G-Wash since having their sealant applied which works really well and has a rather nice fruity smell :)

Check your A and B class for wet carpets

Exactly what happened to my SL and was rather expensive to repair damage caused by the water that got inside. Am seriously considering having the tree that over hangs my drive cut down!

    No power, won't unlock

Looking at the car from the front; under air conditioning filter located below the grill in the bonnet at top right, next to the battery. Below this is a kind of water trap funnel which tapers down to the drain hole.

Water Leak in the boot Lid E200

Had leaky boot problem on my SL500 and after 3 attempts to fix it with all the seals now replaced it seems to holding up (fingers crossed). Not the sort of thing you expect with these kind of cars.

    No power, won't unlock

Had the same crazy erratic speedo, rev counter and dash stuff with my SL500 for ages. Even got messages about SRS not working and "Drive to Workshop" which was a bit scary but, everything would go back to normal quite quickly so I just ignored it. Problem was water getting in through the air...

Drove an SL63 AMG for an hour last year and can highly recommend it. Handling in the wet was a blast especially with ESP turned off. The MB guys are really helpful and the experience helped improve my confidence. Also gave me an insight into what the electronics really do.
