2000 SLK 320 6spd manual Gearbox linkage and then gearbox trouble!

Hello again! I have had my SLK 320 back on the road for some time after a tranny rebuild- which to be fair was done as a safety measure and replaced the clutch etc while there. Since then it has developed a shift pattern problem as in the gear shift lever is canted over to the right by a quarter...

    SLK 320 6 speed

Its making bad noises... even when in neutral, fluid dripping, the thrust bearing is also kaput. Looking to swap for a decent S/H. I was thinking that the Crossfire would be a straight swap? When you say a 240 etc - which specific chassis?

2000 SLK 320 6spd manual Gearbox linkage and then gearbox trouble!

So I have figured out what happened. The linkage came off. I have managed to get it back on after taking the shifter apart but it keeps coming off. To be specific - its the main linkage below the shifter, the shifter has a round hole at the bottom and the linkage slides into that. Problem is...

    juddering on take off

Once all the prop joints, clutch fluid etc have been checked then you need to get the rear up on axle stands, they are cheap to buy if you don't have them- make it safe and have a jack as well, personally if I take the wheels off I have them under the sill and chock the front wheels too. Have a...

2000 SLK 320 6spd manual Gearbox linkage and then gearbox trouble!

Hi folks, So, after many tribulations including brake pipes, fuel filter, belt idler and tensioner pulleys, belt, central locking, battery, paint, tyres and other things I cannot think of but I'm sure there is more, I finally had my SLK 320 back on the road... for exactly 20 minutes. I went to...

    Hey Bing It's A013 545 6332- Looking at the correct info it is good for W140 , engine codes. I'm looking for half what I paid which I think is more than fair but don't think it's for yours as this seems to for the 400...only...? W140043 400 M119-971 A013 545 63 32 W140042 400 M119-981 A013...

    R129 1995 SL60 Throttle body nightmare!

Hi folks - sorry for not updating you all. The car is finally fixed , many months and many £'s later. Turns out a simple cracked dizzy cap was to blame for half the trouble... this was after I had asked the original mechanic to go back and check the basics.. Anyway... I brought it finally...

    R129 1995 SL60 Throttle body nightmare!

I had one changed and now having both changed just to rule that out- problem is I may have been cooking each EZL as I went... What I need is someone in Scotland with an R129 SL500 or just a M119 V8 from this era to test my modules on- I have two new ones plus a few S/H - and see if they run...

    R129 1995 SL60 Throttle body nightmare!

Well I'm back again after waiting on the correct module namely 0155456132. Works fine for 10 minutes- loads of power.... then the car gets warm and misfires again. It has to be something else! Does anyone have a clue what? MAF? Anyone want a great SL60, beautiful body, gorgeous wheels...

    R129 1995 SL60 Throttle body nightmare!

This is my engine number: 119 972 220 146 49- if anyone can advise which of these would be best- mines a 1995 SL60 pre facelift which would lead me to think it's probably either 014 545 4332 or 015 545 6132.

    R129 1995 SL60 Throttle body nightmare!

Thanks Dinoy- I'm in Scotland- I think I know what's going on now and have the right code for the correct ezl it must only be from 4-either 014 545 4232, 4332 or 015 545 6132 or 6232- that's what seems likely now.. but then again who the hell knows till you try it... I've emailed the rebuilders...

So the used ones are both duds.. which bothers me actually- can they all be duds? So I am now in the unenviable position of forking out more money for a part I am unsure will work.. Obviously I can send it back but this problem has just worn me down... The part number I am getting is...

    R129 1995 SL60 Throttle body nightmare!

Yes about half the price but I'm not looking to stinge out on this car, just do what's best for it- would have loved to have the original repaired and gladly paid what they were asking.
