Inferior... From memory the merc unit the merc unit was more expensive, needs servicing and can wear out. Quaiffe is a sealed unit that does not need servicing. I also remember researching that the diff locking charecteristics are more agressive and more suited to the 507

I agree with Mark44, I avoided speccing the merc diff on my new 507 as I considered it an inferior unit to the quaife which I fitted later.

Haha.. Well I exaggerated a little. I had a B1 service, most of which is bul#x%t. The only bit I was interested in was the oil and filter change and the stamp in the book.

The young (ish) guy on reception is a car enthusiast and is absolutely spot on. He said bring it in with a nicely warmed engine and he will get it re-done properly while I wait. I agree too many suits and the s****y showroom has to be paid for. My mate used to be a Ford mechanic, years ago...

oh... he also suggested it may not have had the oil cooler drained, so top marks to those that suggested this.

Update. Thanks for the input everyone. I went back to the main dealer this morning fully expecting a battle but they dealt with it very well. They got a white cloth dipped my car then dipped another recently serviced motor and compared. They absolutely agreed mine was way too dirty and was...

Thanks for the comments. last time it was serviced it was an amber colour ...I reckon they have either changed it when the engine was cold and/or they have not got it all out. They also charged me for topping up the washers and that's 3/4 empty so Im wondering how thorough they were. Ill update...

Yes they charged for a filter as well. This is my second service (B1) at a the Main dealers and was £450. Surely it should not be that black.

Driven my c63 10 miles back from a service and the oil seems filthy. My experience of fresh oil changes is its a golden brown colour. The attatched pic is a dab of fresh mobil 1 and the other dab is my "freshly renewed "Mobil 1 oil. Does this seem right ?I would welcome your opinions. Thanks

That performance centre package he refers to was an option and a very expensive one at that. Your not likely to see many with that toy (cool though)

White coupe with black wheels is a very popular combo and In my view ,as a 64 plate ,I reckon its very good value. Earlier this month the same car as a 63 plate sold quick as a flash (advertised privately £45500 and 27.5k miles). That will sell... unless its scruffy.

My last rental car was red looked dreadfull.... ruined my day.
