    Binding rear brake pad

Ahh! It seems that I'm flapping on about a non-problem. Yes, there's a squeal 'cos the pad is close on the disc, but as I can turn the hub by hand, it can't be said to be binding, so no potential safety issue here. Is my conclusion reasonable?

    Binding rear brake pad

I booked the car in to get it resolved and that turned out to be an almost complete waste of time & money - they didn't even take the wheel off. I won't go there again! I've been doing some more digging, and it seems that the squeal from the rear wheel is just the sound of the pad being in...

    Binding rear brake pad

If you mean, a difference in getting the caliper to work to free the binding? I've now booked it in, since Christmas is close & I need the car. Tks

    Binding rear brake pad

Your question really made me think a bit more about the pros & cons of a repair. In financial terms, my car is hardly worth anything, and yet, to replace it with something as reliable would cost at least £5k (no point doing a like-for-like replacement) with an almost immediate hit from...

    Binding rear brake pad

Whew is right! Thanks to a pause on my car radio which coincided with very slow moving traffic, I was just able to hear the slight squeal from the rear offside. So I may just have caught my issue before it impacted the disc. Still, at 22 years old and 271,000 miles, I have to be careful that a...

    Binding rear brake pad

On Friday, 2 days before I became aware of the issue, I made a round trip of around 139 miles to Kettering and the journey involved a few hard braking instances. Braking was normal.

    Binding rear brake pad

Tks for that. Presuming it is a sticking caliper, any idea as to how long it might take a garage to fix? I'm trying to avoid having being ripped off!

    Binding rear brake pad

Hi All, I'm looking for some advice on how to stop one of my rear brake pads from binding against its disc. I only noticed it yesterday in slow moving traffic when I became aware of a squeal from the rear wheel that seemed to be linked to its rotation. I jacked it up a few hours ago, manually...

C205 - Help - Grinding from right rear wheel. Louder when accelerating? (See/listen to video in thread for more context).

Hi Jiggy, Did you resolve your issue & if so, what was it? Mine is an ancient C220 Cdi Coupe that's started to squeal :(

Safety Recall: Panoramic sliding sunroof bonding

Just had a scary recall letter from MB regarding my 20 year old C220 Cdi Sports Coupe. Here's the scary bit: =================================================== We have established that on some cars the bonding between the panoramic sliding roof panel and the panoramic sliding roof frame may not...

    Repairing front foglight

Tks DSM10000, I never thought to check if it was a testable MOT item :)

    Repairing front foglight

Hi All, I have an ancient (circa 2002) C220 CDi Sports Coupe which has a non-working front offside fog light which I would like to repair before its MOT. Could anyone tell me how easy (or difficult) it is, to get to the fog light for changing the bulb? It nestles in the lower part of the...

Engine starting issue - No glow plug lights, no engine cranking

Fantastic! Can't remember what model your vehicle is, but was it difficult getting to the earth strap? I need to have a look at my own main earthing strap but have no idea where it is. Cheers!

Engine starting issue - No glow plug lights, no engine cranking

Sorry to hear that the issue is still there. My issue has not yet recurred though I think it will :( especially after reading this old thread on another site: https://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/index.php?threads/c220-intermittent-starting-problems-no-codes-showing.101319/page-2 Not much to...

    Door Mirror retaining wire clip

Tks. Managed to get one and found a great video that showed exactly how to refit it. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=youtube+how+to+refit+the+side+mirror+glass+on+a+w203+c-class&docid=608053247663811589&mid=0245686669A89D54DAF10245686669A89D54DAF1&view=detail&FORM=VIRE :)

Engine starting issue - No glow plug lights, no engine cranking

I feel your pain as well as the insecurity :( I don't know the age of your car but mine is really old and my current focus is still on earthing issues as a result of corrosion. The most sensible advice that's been given here is to have a Star diagnosis as a starting point but I haven't got there...
