    cls road noise

I had Contis on my CL which were very noisy. I changed to Dunlop Sport RT and there was a big reduction in noise. When you look at the noise rating on tyre labels, remember that the dB scale is logarithmic so a tyre with a noise rating of 68 dB will make roughly half the noise of one rated at...

    CL / S Class - ABC Question

Really, the CL needs to be driven regularly. The ABC system is a very complex mix of mechanics, hydraulics and electronics and needs to be exercised otherwise some very hefty bills will ensue. Axle stands wouldn't help here. If not used for long periods, the seals in the aircon system can...

Clk 430 command TV not working

If the system on the CLK is the same as the one on mine, then these are the type of unit you need. There were various revisions to the analogue tuners but as far as I know they are all/mostly compatible. mercedes tv tuner | eBay The best thing to do is remove the existing tuner and check...

    CL500 advice.

Yes. In particular, various components in the ABC suspension system can fail without any warning signs whatsoever. My ABC pump failed while I was doing 70 in the middle lane of the M62 and in the process it destroyed the auxiliary belt. I lost suspension, power steering and all the systems...

    CL500 advice.

I owned a Lexus RX for 10 years. Literally nothing went wrong in all that time. I've owned a W215 CL500 for 2.5 years and have spent £5,532 on repairs and servicing during that time. It's been in the garage for the last 10 days after a problem with the gearbox which is currently with a...

Clk 430 command TV not working

I got the 'NO TV' message when the analogue tuner failed. I replaced it with one from eBay and connected a cheap digital tuner to it.

    CL500(W215) Wont lock/unlock from remote

The red LED on the fob will flash even when the batteries are almost exhausted. It's worth trying new ones just in case. Do the indicators flash when you operate the remote? Have you tried unlocking using the IR on the remote? Do you have a separate card for Keyless Go or is it in the fob? _

    CL55 Suspension Fault.....!?!

STAR will display far more (logged) fault codes than the dash will. Not all problems are logged but getting it on STAR is a good first step. It could be a sticking valve or a problem with the ECU, a sensor or the wiring. Have a read of this which includes a list of ABC fault codes...

W211 facelift: AC hidden menu. How?

On mine there are 99 parameters that can be read giving temperatures, pressures, voltages, etc, for various sensors. Here are the first few: NR.00: In Car Temperature Sensor (N22/b1), ACC Pushbutton Control Module (N22) Front Compartment NR.01: In Car Temperature Sensor (N70b1)...

    Liber-t TAG location

The car's handbook should tell you where to put the tag. On mine it's behind the mirror or a particular (very small) spot on the windscreen. Placement is critical if you have an athermic screen (like mine).

    Gearbox service..

I don't think it's worth the effort. On refilling, the oil level is critical. Had mine done last week on a 5-speed box, cost £180.

    Abc coil Spring conversion

I can't help you on the conversion question but bear in mind that the CL does not have anti-roll bars, it relies on the ABC system to do that function. If you fit coils instead of ABC you'll have a car with no anti-roll capability; in other words it won't handle as well.

    Tyre size/load rating basic question!

'H' rated tyres are for up to 130 mph and 'V' rated tyres are for up to 149 mph. It's perfectly legal and safe to go up a rating so you can fit 'V' tyres where 'H' is specified. The 'M+S' stands for Mud and Snow, often called 'winter' tyres. As for having all 4 the same, that depends on...

    Xenon lights

Xenon bulbs are available in different colour temperatures, measured in degrees Kelvin. The most common colour is 4300k but it can go as low as 4000k (warmer, more yellow) and up to 6000k or more (cooler, more blue). The cooler bulbs seem brighter when looked at directly but once the light is...

    Airbag warning reset - Sheffield

The lock-to-lock trick resets only the ESP and related systems. Once an SRS fault is logged, even if the fault is subsequently fixed, the system must be reset using STAR or a 3rd-party diagnostic tool that can access the SRS subsystem.

    Portable WiFi

Bluetooth 2.0 has a maximum data rate of 3 Mb/s so would be hopelessly slow for surfing the web, etc. Bluetooth 3.0 and 4.0 can go up to 24 Mb/s but they do this by handing over the connection to wifi once the initial handshaking has taken place on Bluetooth.
