Chunks coming out of GLC tyres

I've got the car back with two lovely new tyres, and confirmation that the suspension is OK. Slightly odd though that the new tyres and old tyre have all been inflated to 250-260 kPa, rather than the filler cap suggested level of 220 kPa. If it was just the new tyres then I would think it was a...

Chunks coming out of GLC tyres

The car is going in today for two new front tyres and a suspension check, all covered under the warranty. Regards crabbing - I mentioned above that I test drove some that did have this issue, and it was clear within a minute of driving it. The one I bought has never crabbed or skipped like the...

Chunks coming out of GLC tyres

    1. CHUNKING Chunking is the term used to describe missing sections of tread from a tire. It almost looks as though the tread has been sliced or torn off in chunks from seemingly random areas. Tire damage like this typically occurs for one of two reasons. The first is related to suspension...

Chunks coming out of GLC tyres

They are All Season tyres, so I would think they are OK?

Chunks coming out of GLC tyres

Possibly. The tyres had clearly been used, but not as used as I would expect 3 year / 20k miles tyres to be - although the production date of the tyres 5017/5117 is in keeping with the car's registration date of March 2018. I'm genuinely a careful driver, have absolutley not been driving like...

Chunks coming out of GLC tyres

I've contacted Mercedes, they have forwarded the info and photos to their tyre guy for this comments.

Chunks coming out of GLC tyres

The marks are only on the two front tyres, with the RHS being worse. The tyres are: Goodyear Eagle Sport MOExtended 255/45/R20 105V, made in 5017/5117.

Chunks coming out of GLC tyres

Just to add - I did drive a GLC, which very clearly suffered from the scrubbing/crabbing issue. The one I bought has never felt like it has this issue, slow turning / full lock are smooth. It has also (I saw an invoice) had the fix applied, which apparently involves some kind of nut being added...

Chunks coming out of GLC tyres

I'm having an issue with the tyres on my GLC, and I'm hoping someone can help diagnose the cause. I've had the car for a month / 500 miles, and it's a 2018 GLC AMG 250 (Petrol) Premium Plus. The tyres did not have these markings when I bought the car, but I was told that the tyres were probably...

    GLC 250d vs 350d

Thanks JBD, fountain of knowledge! Everything I've read / seen about the air suspension has been good, so would be nice to get one with it if I can find one. I've dug out a few old brochures, but can't see when the air suspension was standard on the 350d - any idea on model years? Thanks so...

    GLC 250d vs 350d

OK, with you, thanks for that. I've not seen any comments about common problems with AdBlue diesels - is there anything in particular I should be concerned about?

Thanks @markjay - could you say a little more on your thoughts around AdBlue please?

    GLC 250d vs 350d

Thanks JBD, appreciate the advice. Funnily enough I've been looking into the Airmatic / Air Body Control, but it seems to be a rarely added option on the GLC.

    GLC 250d vs 350d

Thanks for all the comments! Very jealous of those green bars, I've never even managed that in my B180 CDI!

    GLC 250d vs 350d

Thanks all really appreciate the comments. It seems that the 350d V6 is great, but the 250d is acceptable and not sluggish, which is what I've read elsewhere. I wrongly thought that the 250 petrol was introduced with the new model, but I've since seen that it goes back to 2018 versions. I've...

    GLC 250d vs 350d

Thanks GeeJayW, appreciate your comments. The V6 was very enjoyable, I'm just thinking that however good that 250d is, it will feel like a step down. I guess I'll find out this weekend! There aren't as many 350d engines around compared to the number of 250d on the market, and they carry a...

    GLC 250d vs 350d

I've decided to upgrade from my 2014 B1810 CDI to a 2018 (ish) GLC. I test drove a 2017 GLC 350d AMG Premium Plus at the wekeend, and loved the engine. I'm currently trying to arrange a 250d for this weekend, but wanted to see if anyone could give me their thoughts on both? Is the 250d a...

Thanks to some old articles on this forum I've found Stevenson Mercedes in Maidstone and booked it in for next week. I'll report back 👍

    2014 W246 B Class - ESP Inoperative / Pre-Safe Functions Limited

Thanks markjay. The issue is actually that I changed a wheel sensor, and I am still getting the error messages relating to ABS and traction system. Despite the sensor being clearly damaged (it had snapped). The NHTSA link suggests that the issue could be with a wiring loom further down the...
