    Roofbar retaining bolt W204 Estate

Pulled the roof apart further, nicked a bolt from the fuse box which fitted fine and appears to be the same. Got some clips and a 6mm metric bolt replacement. Overnight, got well over an inch of water in the spare wheel well. Will see if resolved or whether there is another access point as...

    Roofbar retaining bolt W204 Estate

Some months ago I had a partial respray of my 2012 W204 which had the classic peeling clearcoat problem. All was good until recently I noticed a wet patch in the boot. With yesterday's rain, having dried it out, I have identified that the roofbar hasn't been bolted down on the right rear. By...

Wheel sensor fault - where next?

I ended up with it sitting on the drive in lockdown, then taking it to a garage who replaced the sensor again and it worked fine so it was either something with my installation or these sensors are trouble! As there were no additional parts, it has to be one or the other! No problems since.

Wheel sensor fault - where next?

I missed a step or two, and was going to swap left and right sensors to see if I'd fitted a faulty replacement, and also use a multimeter to check the voltage to the sensor. There didn't seem to be any obvious other relays when I checked the wiring. Basically, it got too hot to be bothered...

W204 facelift owners - where is the ECO symbol located in you instrument cluster?

Bottom - Park Assist is at the side - as is on the original photo. 2012, S204 C220Cdi AMG Sport BlueEfficiency Old Uncle Tom Cobbly

Wheel sensor fault - where next?

S204 2012 C Class Mercedes C220 Cdi Estate I've got the usual array of ABS lights from a faulty sensor going on and using my cheapy Merc code reader confirmed it was front right. I now realise it is important that the ABS lights come on almost immediately on turning on the ignition, no movement...

    Just call me BMWMark

Looked at BMWs for SWMBO and I was quite surprised at the seating as back in the day they did proper seats. Now they seem to want to give you flat hard stools with uncomfortable extension pieces that dig into your thigh, certainly in the more basic trim models. If you can find that out just...

    MB Service remap?

Well, it did have the 5 year oil change in the gearbox, so it also makes sense that it could simply be a gearbox reset. Perhaps it's detected I've got older too!

    MB Service remap?

Just got my 2012 W204 C 220Cdi back from service - 5 years. It seems different. It seems to be holding lower revs and chugging along at very low revs as I toddle around, even after a cold start. No problems on responsiveness, but it does seem a little more rumbly due to the lower revs. It is...

    W204 Electronics glitching

Worth a check. VW Golf I had went for bizarre behaviour with a weak battery.

    W204 Electronics glitching

In the last month I've had 3 odd glitches on my 2012 W204 220 Cdi AMG Sport estate (35,000 miles) - absolutely stock. 1. Driving in Gloucester on 40mph road with speed limiter set, doing a short steep descent let the limiter do its thing, half way down the door locks popped. Unsettling! 2...

    What MPG are people getting?

Did a similar long distance jaunt down through Germany to Austria, 2012 C220cdi Estate, generally running around the legal limit or at the advisory limit of 130kph in Germany. Got above 50mpg in Europe, dropped to 49.6 by the time we got home to Brum based on the trip computer, 1875 miles, 53mph...

Excess disc wear and hidden exclusions on service contract

Back from my travels. I don't disagree, however, there are two issues, when the service contract alludes to covering all costs and only contradicts this in the small print, and in the mind of a consumer whether there is a clear distinction between service parts and other arbitrary parts that...

Excess disc wear and hidden exclusions on service contract

Thanks for the feedback. Chatted with some lease owning friends. I think it comes down to Mercedes living in the trade which have evolved some interesting distinctions between service and maintenance. I've had cars serviced for 30 years so in my mind brakes are something that get dealt with at...

    Do you indicate on roundabout?

My view is that you use indicators to help people. On entering a roundabout you want confirmation of where someone is going so road positioning plus indicator gives you some reassurance, speed, and so on. Without a signal you are left without another level of confirmation so you make life a bit...

Excess disc wear and hidden exclusions on service contract

Two part question: I have a W204 C220Cdi AMG Sport BlueEfficiency Old Uncle Tom Cobbly And All Edition and at a recent service I was rather surprised that it needed new discs - pads only 60% worn. It's done just over 25k miles. I'm sure all my other care have got around 60k from discs. Problem...

What a Stupid Place to put a Cruise Control

Moving the stalk below the indicator was a good move - on earlier models it was far easier to accidentally engage, and if set to speed limiter you are sat wondering why the car won't go faster than 20mph. More recent cars have differing displays. I prefer the older W204 C Class central speedo...

    A Class

I think the last para is the feedback - also to have a second probably says something. We have a MB outlet who we got on with well locally so we'll see what there is to see. They do have some autos - unlike searching the BMW approved site where you have to go well up-spec. Knowing how good Merc...

    A Class

After an A Class for 'er indoors, they seem competitively priced with the other marques. I am after an automatic (this is mandatory, no engineer can design for the stick wiggling of SWMBO), comfortable, not too racey. I think an A Class will suit as I have just about trained her on the C Class...
