R107 sag to drivers side when stationary

    Location ? Hi SG1 Whereabouts in London are you ? There's a few parts I'd like as backups, including this lower offside control arm or wishbone. I can't PM as I'm sub 30 posts. Let's see if this works: n i a l l s e m a i l @ y a h o o . c o m

R107 sag to drivers side when stationary

Thanks Druk. Have a lead on a part in Germany, but just got a confirmation from a Dronsfields ( recommended on this forum by lordelee ) who have found me an ( expensive ) new, genuine Merc part. The old girl is saved. Again.

    R107 - 1986 500 SL offside lower wishbone

Lordlee, you're a dead set, gold plated genius. Steven at Dronsfields has found one. 5 day delivery. Pricey, but not more than I was going to pay the garage.

    R107 - 1986 500 SL offside lower wishbone

Thanks lordlee. I'll give Dronsfields a call. That ebay listing is for the early model ( up to 1984 ) , so won't fit

    R107 - 1986 500 SL offside lower wishbone

All Trying to source an offside lower wishbone for a 1986 500 SL. Car is off the road, and Mercedes have just quit making the part, so the pattern parts makers aren't up to speed yet. Car is not driveable. Anyone know of someone breaking or a dedicated breakers yard I could try ?

R107 sag to drivers side when stationary

Trouble Right, looks like I'm in trouble. The car is with TM Motors, who are very good. It was they that identified it as the offside lower wishbone, and immediately tried to source the part. Turns out, there wasn't one in the country. Mercedes has listed the part as 'EE' which means it isn't...

R107 sag to drivers side when stationary

For the record, this turned out to be a very severely corroded and sagging offside lower wishbone. Lucky it was found as the cars sits on the M25 most days, so would not like to have that wishbone snap while I was testing the speed limits  If yours is doing this, check the wishbones.

    R107 - 1986 500 SL indicators and hazards

All Had a tyre blow go yesterday on the M25, and stuck the hazards on while I was replacing the wheel. Driving into work later, noticed I was getting some honks and a couple of nice hand gestures and realized the indicators were not working. Quick check of the fuse map, and everything else on...

R107 sag to drivers side when stationary

It seems to be drivers side rear that has the sag. Looks level from the front. I think I'll get it checked out properly. Thanks again for all the replies.

R107 sag to drivers side when stationary

Its paggett red. With a healthy covering of road grime. It's a daily driver up the M3 into London, so it can get a bit unlovely during the week in winter months. Why ?

R107 sag to drivers side when stationary

Thanks for your replies. There's no noticeable issue with driving, so I suspect it's nothing drastic. I'll keep an eye on it and if that changes, I'll get it checked. Are springs and shocks something I could consider replacing myself ?

R107 sag to drivers side when stationary

All I've noticed a pronounced sag to the driver side on my wife's 1986 R107 500SL. I've just parked it in a number of spots on the road to eliminate any camber induced lean, and it definitely sits lower on the driver side when viewing from the rear. A quick pootle around and it drives just...

Connectors attached to washer jets in engine bay

Must get around to securing photobucket folders  It is in France. Down in 64 in Basque country. It'll be the resting place for the SL in about 9 months with a bit of luck.

Oh, I don't know. Some Borg green LEDs would like nice against the pagett red

Connectors attached to washer jets in engine bay

Thanks all. I suspect it's not the original bonnet then, as the washer jets are not heated. Odd that I hadn't noticed them loose before though. It's definitely the same bonnet that I sent the car away with. @Sp!ke. Do you have an equivalent shot that would show the trim around the firewall...

Connectors attached to washer jets in engine bay

All First post. New member. My wife's 1986 500 SL jas just come back from having some accident damage repaired. While I was nosing around in the engine bay inspecting the work, I noticed one of the hoses to the passenger side windscreen washer jet wasn't connected. Popped that back on, but...
