Hi The engine managment light came on a couple of weeks ago, cleared the fault but it came back on again, had it plugged into star and component y3/8s1 selection range sensor is defective is the fault, car is driving fine at the moment, any ideas?

Does anyone have problems with this box? I own an A class 200 CDi (11k) and have trouble moving up from 5th gear in auto mode. MB informs me that I should shift up using manual. I cannot believe that MB wiould have developed a box which does not move up automatically into 6th and 7th gears.
