if i break the red tag on dip stick to check atf level can i still drive the car or would i have to replace it cheers all

Gentlemen I wish to change the ATFluid on my 2002 CL500. Why can I not just insert my engine oil sucker tube down the gearbox dipstick tube, suck out the old ATF oil, and then replace it with the same amount of new ATF?

Just wondering, how frequently should the ATF be changed on a 7G? Mine was done a couple of months after getting the car (as a precaution) but that was over a year and around 5K miles ago. Would you guys change annually or just wait 'till the service is due (which is in another 8K miles)?

Folks Will an SLK (eBay) ATF dipstick be ok to use in my C55. Both cars are 2004. It shows my C55 as having too much oil. Don't eat to suck any out if I am wrong on the dipstick. Sent from my iPhone using MBClub UK
