Hi
I have a CLK 230K which I assume has a timing chain but I can't seem to find out when it's supposed to be changed, can any one tell me?
Also chain guides have been mentioned when do they get changed.
Another service question that I can't seem to find is when the auto box fluid should be...
Interesting what you talk about on Christmas eve:D I was discussing this very thing with a retired diesel engineer and he is strongly against cam chains:eek: The reason, they stretch and can, over a period of years, affect the valve timing. So I thought I would discuss this issue with the...
I am rebuilding my W123 280TE; the engine has had a top-end rebuild, including a new duplex cam chain. The engine is still out of the car.
New cam chain is the original MB £££ part, 140 links, exactly the same length as the old one (I double checked before I started!).
So, imaging my...
I've got an oil leak on my engine, its from the area near the hydraulic chain tensioner (m104 engine in e320 coupe)
Could it be the tensioner or is it more likely the head?
thanks in anticipation
Hi All,
I have a 1989 300CE with 140K miles and I am wondering when the Timing Chain should be changed? Also has anyone any idea of the costs involved?
Thanks
Tried to fit my replacement timing chain tonight after taking the rocker cover off, etc., the weekend. I bought an original replacement chain from Mark Cosovich so I know its a good one (Jiwis). I understood from the Peter Russek manual that what I needed to do was to split the existing chain(...

I am thinking about changing the timing chain and tensioner on my merc w123 230e it is a 1985 car. The reason i am thinking about doing it myself because if i take it to a garage they will probably put an aprentice on it any way and i am worried if they mess it up basically how would you rate...
I have a brand new, genuine MB part timing chain for a 190E 2.3-16.
This will not fit the 2.5, or any other model for that matter - only the 2.3 models with the 102.983 engines.
This is an item that should be replaced at 60,000 mile intervals!
I had this on ebay, but took it off as...
Hi, My 1984 230e has 75,000 miles on the clock, And my local mb garage advised that unless the chain is rattling and the oil has not been reguarly changed it is not neccesary to change the chain, Can this be right, Thanks Paul.

Hello folks,

Currently looking into buying a 1991 500SL.
Does anyone know at what intervals the cam chain is to be replaced? I am led to believe that 100,000 miles is correct.
Roughly how much would you expect to pay for the job to be carried out?
Cheers in advance.
Olly
