Guys
Due to another thread tonight I referred to a spreadsheet I drew up a while ago.
With fuel economy sometimes being referred to as l/100Km I made a sheet for comparison of litres, gallons and US gallons over the same distances.
I don't know if this is of any use to anyone.
Agrrh. I...
Hi All
I have just bought a 2000 E320 CDI Avantguarde Auto (back to Merc's after 7 years of BMW motoring) and I'm a bit surprised with the fuel economy.
Around town, after resetting the odometer twice, it is giving around 230 miles on a full tank, which is around the same as my old 523i Auto...
Hi all,
Wonder if anyone can help with this? Are there like official figures for oil consumption for W203s?
Mine was refilled after a B service and after 2500 miles, the computer says to add 1L of oil - is this normal? Also, does oil brand / specs matter? I used mobil1 0/40W previously...
Hello all, first post in the technical section..
After filling up today (101.9 for Optimax.. bl**dy hell), I thought it was time to check the dipstick. Turned out it was low, so bought me a litre of Mobil 1 to top up with. That went in, and it is on the happy end of the dipstick now.
Now, I've...
Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, I thought about engine in technical but not even sure it's that.
Driving an A160, had for a good while serious consumption problems it usually hovers around 14 to the gallon and has dropped to as low as 8. Is on maintenance contract Mercedes had a look...
I have a 14K (2005) C220CDI auto estate from new. Every 4th or 5th warm start develops poor fuel consumption, and a smell like burning rubber coming from the exhaust - auto box is also hesitant at the same time. MB recall for a new high pressure fuel pump improved matters a bit, but it still...
Could any w124 (pref 2litres) give me their MPG that they are getting on their cars.
Have adjusted my driving style to suit the car which means that i now find myself driving far more consistenly and safer.
Cheers...
(p.s. how come i am now listening to more AM stations since i bought...
I’ve been offered a rather smart 1992, TE300 which I am seriously tempted to buy. However I have quite a drive to work and back every day so the fuel consumption is likely to be the deciding factor. Does anyone know what I should expect to get? Car is a 3 litre auto.
Thanks
Chris
My car was returning an average of 36mpg until I had a faulty catalyser replaced, now its returning 30mpg. Is this right?
If it is, I still have the old 'cat'. I'll gut it and refit it, swapping back and forth at MOT time.
Hey all...
My driving is mainly around west end of London; so i'm stuck in traffic, at level crossings, pulling up here and there...
Just wondering... is it more efficient to switch off the car for a few minutes and then restart it, or keep it running. I've noticed my SL320 takes a...
Hello. i was curious... i have talked to a few people that had a ML 270 CDI Also a automatic and a lot where saying they do at least 26-28MPG (All the time) I am only doing 20MPG. i know i can have a heavy foot but i do not notice much differance between flooring it the whole time and driving it...
Hi there
I bought a new C220CDI Avantgarde in February and have been really pleased with it so far. But I am a bit puzzled by the fuel consumption experience I have had and wonder whether anyone else has found the same.
My initial few weeks or so with the car involved one long round trip...
Over that last few months I've seen my fuel consumption fall from 33-34mpg to 28-30mpg. (W210 300TD Est)
I drive very consistently and do the same route every day, which is motorway on cruise control.
There is no loss of urge from the engine and it pulls cleanly towards the red. There is...
Now got over 50mpg..... By buying a Golf 2.0 GT TDI :D :bannana:
I though it was probably not wise to keep driving the CL up to the shops and back, not giving it time to warm up etc, so after speaking with DorianT who has been raving about the VAG Diesel units, I just bought a new Golf GT...
Could anyone please indicate from their experience the real world fuel economy for a w124 300d auto? I am considering returning to mercedes after a painful experience with peugeot diesels!
Thanks :)
Have got a c250td estate (1998) which normally delivers reasonable fuel consumption, however when towing a caravan (1200kg) have only been getting around 19 mpg.
Has anybody had similar experiences? Is this the norm?

I have an E class and its got about 3500 miles until the next service. I have noticed this that I need to add 1.5 litres of oil. Do I have a heavy oil consuption or is this normal?
Any advice as what might be the problem.
Cheers
Ian
I'm well pleased at the moment so I though I would share my joy with you guys.
Went down to Brighton today for a freinds kids Christening, about 100mls each way, and my fuel consumption has shocked me. I managed to get an average for today of 42mpg :bannana: :bannana: Yesterday I got 38mpg...
Wonder if any of you good folks have experience with this.
Every service, John Griffiths sticks a litre of synth top-up oil in the boot. Normally i will top up and get through a litre in about 6,000 miles or so.
My engine is the 2.8 litre straight six, 24 valve.
Is this a normal sort...
