Silly question but do the Europeans use something else to de ice the roads other than the road salt used in the UK??
I read with interest about bodywork corrosion issues that many of you seem to have in the UK, brought on no doubt by the salt used on the roads. My 1995 W124 spent 2 years in...
Hello All,
I have posted a few thread about my new car.
I am wondering if anyone could tell me how I could reapri this? Would a normal rub and paint do the job, or should I use filler? And would anyone have any experience of buying such parts anywahere?
The sills are in great condition, its...
Recently i noticed that both my sill covers are sort of bubbling up. Could they be corroding? Well it actually looks like there's possibly some grit trapped under them and the metal has been flatened over it - ie. quite bumpy and uneven looking.
Very strange but was wondering if anyone else...
I noticed today the the shiney black door trim finishers that go behind the window on the front front doors (B post)are starting to corrode.
Is this normal?
I assume the only way to fix this is to replace them?
I had just decided to get my 2 arches done (£400+vat), when I read on here that Merc have a warranty.
Took it in yesterday morning and today got a phonecall to say it's all been approved. Booked in for 3 weeks time (with a courtesy car !!!)
To say I'm amazed is an understatement. :D...
I have an ML270CDI 2004 model with full mb service history.
I have discovered some corrosion on the battery tray.
Both the dealer and mercedes benz will not replace the battery tray because in their view this corrosion will not spread or be detrimental to the safety or value of the vehicle.
Can...
Whilst washing car yesterday i noticed a patch of corrosion (size of Thumb nail) on edge of front wheel arch, not caused by stone chip. Last MB service 02/02/2006, subsequent 2 servicings carried out by Indie. Car Reg 31 Mar 2002. Question is, what are my chances of getting this sorted out for...
The Vito must surely take the prize for being the fastest rusting vehicle on the roads? My 7 year old (w reg) CDI has rust breaking out everywhere, all underside seams and on almost every external panel. I've just found that both structural members under the bonnet (above inner wings running...
Hi. Taking advantage of a day or so's respite from the rain I washed the car this pm. and noticed what appears to be a corrosion fault shown in the photo. If anyone has claimed for this type of problem under warranty I'd be interested to hear. The car is a month shy of its third birthday. Thanks...
Hello,
Just noticed that the silver paint on my 2003 C-Class are bubbling quite badly. All 4 wheels are affected. This is not caused by paint damage, etc: the corrosion is from 'under' the paint.
Car is one owner, has 45K miles and full MB history, and it is still under athe MBUK service...
Bought my '99 CLK320 about 2 months ago and my "friend" recently took great pleasure in pointing out a rust bubble on the wing. I hopped on the old interweb to search for quick fixes and stumbled across the many threads here regarding the apparently poor corrosion resistance of Mercedes in...
Are all Mercedes wheels poor quality?
I have a 2000 plate clk conv 230k, i bought it about a month ago, it had 2 new wheels, they were changed because the coating/finish was bubbling turning white! Now it has 3 mint wheels and one that has started corroding.
I am now looking for 18”s I want...
I am experiencing extensive corrosion on my E Class 200 ( 1999 )
I would welcome comments from other members who have the same problem
My wife runs an A Class 170 Auto and has had to have a new gear box fitted. Is this a common problem ?:(
Due to a bodged repair to the foglight on my 2003 W203 C180K, the repairer did not install the 'under-the-bumper' shroud properly: it separated whilst doing 80mph and ripped out the entire wheel arch liner.
Ah, but what is this? Whilst poking around the inside wing lo an behold I see evidence...
My 2003 W211 is 3 and a half years old. The wheels have the usual laquer lift around the bolt hole and all need re-furbishing or re-newing.This is not a result of any kerbing, and I only clean the wheels with car wash/wax, no wonder wheels etc.
I approached my local dealer, who took photos...
I've just bought a 1995 E300 diesel saloon with full MB service history.
The car has 104K on the clock, and is in very good condition cosmetically.
The engine bay looks almost new.
Having had it up on my 4 post lift i have noticed corrosion had taken hold around the rubber grommets in the rear...
Hi everybody,
I recently bought a 2001 clk320 on a Y plate, the car is in very good condition having only one previous owner and 38000 miles on the clock,it has full main dealer service history.
On giving the engine bay a clean up last week i noticed what looks like a lot of corrosion just down...
It does seem what first happens in sweden will in the long run be duplicated on cars here.Car makers do test for corrosion resistance in special heated chambers where salt water is sprayed onto cars over many weeks but there still seems to be a weakness on the MB production line in terms of...
Hi i am new to this site. I have a fab CL 600 :D with full AMG kit...i was staggered to find corrosion coming through on the C posts and the bottom of the drivers door...the car has done 28000..Mercedes say its going to take a min of 4 weeks to repair..plus the dealer tells me they have real...
