dampening

Hello all. I drove the car to work yesterday morning and heard a rattling noise coming from the engine. On close inspection it seems as if the hydraulic dampening strut has gone kaput. Does anyone know where i can source this part from apart from Mercedes?

When the passanger opens the glove box its lid just crashes out, there is no dampenning for it to drop down slowly and controlled. It feels cheap and nasty and not in keeping with the car, so is it broken or do all E class glove boxes when openned don't lower down, but just drop down and...
