Am re posting this as I mucked it up first time round. Found this pipe lying near the battery, which is on the right hand side of my car, it's left hand drive, when sucked it opens/closes the valve on the air inlet tube, so it must need to be connected to something, any ideas?

I have got trouble starting my car. 1997 E300 TD W210.
I took some advice off the forum had the fuel pipe seals done, cleaned the manifold and EGR.
Bleeding the injectors some air came out, well sort of fizzed out with fuel.

It has the exit port going to front of car, pump, two soleniods, then pipes on other end, two going to the matrix I assume, one with incoming arrow and what feels like the hot flow, and then a blanked off pipe exit...
