Hi all,
Among the other little problems I have with my new motor, the two most annoying are:
The fuel guage isn't set right - when it's empty it sits at half a tank, and then if I have a half tank, it shows full, anyone know what might be wrong there? (When the ignition is off the needle does...
When I fill the car with petrol it still never results in the needle on gauge being at the max level. Any ideas what could be wrong. Is it likely that the float switch is faulty/loose - is it easily accessible?
Any help much appreciated?
Thanks
MFK
Well my wife has the most economical A140 in the world!
She's been driving around all week, and the petrol gauge still reads full.
Being non-technically minded when it comes to cars, is there a simple way to fault find with a petrol gauge?
Cheers
Brian
I'm assuming that I have a fuel sender problem on a W202 200 Sport......the fuel gauge itself has a mind of its own...it will show empty and then slowly rise to show full and then slowly go down again to the bottom of the guage....all of this whilst the car has only a gallon or two of petrol in...
I got my new ML 420 CDi yesterday. Beautiful car.
Spent the evening reading the manual. Tried to figure out how to bring up the outside temperature on the computer read-out on the dash and it appears it can't be done in the UK! Incredible. I spend £57k on a new car and it hasn't got a...
Hi all.
I have a 1985 500sl
I've noted my temp gauge sitting halfway between 80 and the next, unmarked, line (100 degrees?).
I can sometimes see the needle fluctuate, and rise or fall, though not always.
It moves around in that 'quarter'of the gauge, but doesn't go past the 100 degree line...
Not an issue really just an observation (a very sad/**** observation).
I've been working on customer site for the past couple of weeks and this week the 80 mile round trip has aligned itself with the notches on the petrol gauge e.g
Monday - gauge on full all the time (as they do)
Tuesday -...
Currently have a 300SL-24 that I have not used for 3 weeks or so.
Car is low mileage and drives beautifully....having just used the car this weekend the oil pressure gauge in the dash is behaving oddly...Rather than sitting a 3 where it normally does, its sitting at 2 when driving and will...

Hi
I have a W203 C class on an '03 plate. Now I may or may not have a problem with a faulty fuel gauge. Let me explain...
My car is parked outside on my drive overnight - the driveway itself is on a gradient. When I get up in the morning to goto work - I find that the fuel gauge is...
Hi all,
The oil pressure gauge on my dash is at 3 when the engine is cold and goes down to 2.75 or 2.5 max. when the engine is warm or hot.
Nowadays weird something is going on,the oil pressure gauge goes beyond 2 and today for the first time I see the gauge at 1.
I think the gauge is trying to...
I have just bought an E320T 1994 W124 Estate. I have a problem with the outside temperature gauge.
It lights up okay but displays no reading. I assume it is either the sender or the display unit that is faulty. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to which one it is more likely to be...
Hi, can anyone point me towards a cure for the fault on my '94 W124 E280's outside temperature gauge?
When I first turn on the ignition, the temperature display reads correctly. After starting up and running for between five to ten seconds, the display flashes and drops to about half the...
yestarday my fuel gauge decided to start playing up, one min reading ok next zero for a while and then where ever it wants. could this be a fuel sender problem?
I need one of them things that tells the fuel gauge how much is in the tank.
I have a 1996 E220 Coupe, faclift model.
If anyone has one please PM me.
Cheers.
Hi, I'm new to this site, looks great btw.
My boss has asked me to find some info as to why his fuel guage isn't working properly on is 96 MB C220 Petrol.
He says that when he fills up, it goes right too the top, as it should, but after a few miles it drops to the middle and then to the bottom...

Hi, could anyone tell me the "normal" position for the temp gauge in traffic around this time of year. Should it stay in one place or does it vary? My fan seems to stay at the same speed no matter what is this right?
Cheers
Jon
ps its a 300-24 ce
My C43 fuel gauge (presumably like all the other W202's) reads a nice healthy full for quite a while before plummeting ever faster towards empty.
I understand why this is but wondered, as it is an electronic signal, if anyone has ever come up with a corrector / compensator so that the fuel...
