There are many discussions on how a M119 engine won't fit into a standard W124 chassis, or if it does it may need extensive modifications. I guess one of the main differences is that in the E500 chassis, there is a wider transmission tunnel, and then some.
So the W124 Hammer is based on a 300E...
Just been reading the March 2010 issue of Evo which arrived today. There's an interesting review of an AMG Hammer in it -although not so interestingly, they have reviewed it alongside a Sierra Sapphire Cosworth.... 375 bhp, 0-60 in 5.0 secs, 407lb ft torque - in 1986. Pretty impressive figures...
My first post on this board.
Having come across a photo of the above and read through some past posts on this board re the above I have decided to do a little research to try and find out just how many were produced?
I know user Vlad and possibly one or two others have owned one in the past...
Another job off the day...Hammer, again bought in March last year, only now got round to refurbishing the wheels.
These were horrendous....pitted, bubbling....Spit and Polish just about managed to sort these. 2 of the wheels on the Hammer were the late 1992 Aero Is which have the '///AMG' logo...
Mercedes AMG Diesel Model Dubbed Super Hammer to Launch Within Three Years
Comic books have Superman. Now the world of cars will have Super Hammer, which incidentally has nothing to do with either the superhero or the bankrupt rapper. Super Hammer will be with us within the next three...
....from across the pond, and this time it's an estate.
It looks absolute fantastic, and if all the mechanical work can be verified, it would have to worth the price tag...
Some weeks ago somebody posted a new topic on "Spotted on E-bay" mentioning that in the upcoming Coys auction they were selling an AMG 560 W124 previously owned by Jeff Lynne of ELO and George Harrison of The Beetles.
Car was to be sold with no reserve....the write up for the car was...
While there's a couple of threads running about the E55 and E60 AMGs, it made me wonder about old AMGs vs. new Mercs in the AMG stable.
So let's take the legendary AMG Hammer and E63 AMG.
AMG Hammer.
385bhp
~420 lb/ft
0-62mph 5 secs
Vmax 185mph
E63 AMG
507bhp
465 lb/ft
0-62 mph 4.5 secs...
Well, 2.5 years after I first clapped eyes on her, I have finally completed my AMG Hammer and as it was such a beautiful day today, I thought I would go out and burn some rubber and take some pics.
For those not familiar with this car, the AMG Hammer was developed by AMG back in the mid 80's...
Im toying with the idea of colour coding my alloys, this would mean splitting them down and having the lips polished again at the same time, a quick mess around on photoshop give you the before and after.
1. Before
2. After (the windows tinted too)
I expect there will be mixed...
Yesterday I had a look at replacing the lower front suspension balljoints on my '99 E240 Estate while I was replacing discs and pads. I have the new ball joints and experimented with splitting the joint from the Swivel Hub with no luck.
The ball joint splitter I have is too small so I tried...
Well today was the day....collection of my AMG Hammer after 18 months of it being away, having a very slow engine re-build.....something I was happy to go along with, as it kept the bill down...slightly :o
Anyway, what a beast.....I knew that it would have a nice V8 rumble but never expected...
Hello all
I'm trying to find as many pictures of the M117 AMG hammer engine, doesn't matter if it is the 5.0, 5.6 or 6.0 litre engine but it needs to have the twin cam heads.
Any information about the engine would be greatly received thanks!
Dave!
