    auto gearbox died 200 miles from home

    Don't know if anyone has any ideas but my 98 e 240 auto has just died , keeps dropping out of gear , if I stop and restart the car it will go again for about a mile then drops out of gear , it also makes a high pitched whining noise a bit like an electric motor
