I was driving west-bound on the M-8 last night and I noticed the inside lane was completely empty and in middle lane was car after car doing between 50-60 mph, it got me thinking. All these people must not be aware of the function of the middle lane, it must be ignorance. I thought to myself...
Gents
Just come down the M6 towards Brum at the newly opened section where they have the hard-shoulder running and variable speed limits in times of congestion. (i.e. always!!)
There seemed to be a number of LGV 44 Tonne artics running in Lane 3. The posted speed limit was 50
Has...
Suzuki DRZ 400/ Honda XR400 or similar wanted. Must be in good condition, mechanically sound and road registered, age not too important.....
Please PM any details
Good God above. Common sense at last. It will be put into use again as an Olympic Access Route but after that the abomination goes.
BBC News - Government to scrap M4 bus lane
Well it happened today.
Speeding onto motorway from slip road.
Indicated and was going to drive straight into middle lane.
Suddenly beep beep beep.
I immediately recognised it as the lane warning.
At the last minute I stayed on the inside lane instead of going into the middle...
...not "what is the right thing to do?"....what do *YOU* do?
We all know the deal...you're on a clear motorway making good progress and some idiot is hogging lane 2....or even worse, lane 3+.
I've found that in the last couple of years I've steadily gone from waiting patiently for them to...
Just noticed street view pop up on the M4 @ junction 17.
Miles of emply left hand lane - but the google chap is sat in the middle lane - interesting to look at the packed lanes behind him and very little in front. And of course whichever location you pick the same car is behind him.
Driving into London the other day, coming down the M1, round about junction 5, and the traffic slows down to 60mph.
I carry on at my usual 70 because there's no indication anything's wrong, only to discover everyone's creeping past a Police Vauxhall Ashtray doing 60ish IN THE MIDDLE LANE. :doh...
I tried to remember some number plates for this forus today but there were sooo many i just over loaded my mind with numbers and letters!
I've been mototrway driving a fair bit recently, mostly A11 and A14 and M11 but ive also been far and wide recently on motorbike and car, to...
The lane nearest the central reservation - officially called the Fast Lane.
This lane is reserved for use by important people and those in a hurry. "Important people" are those who can afford expensive cars (Mercedes E200, Lexus, Jaguar etc) - their time is costly and they can easily afford to...
Hi,
Does anybody know if it is possible to change the number of flashes on the lane change function on the indicator stalk please? It seems that 3 flashes is too few and 4/5 would be more useful, and considerate to other people.
Thanks
Are they ever allowed? This was southbound a couple of weekends ago near the Silverstone exit on the M1. Traffic was stationary - but does that make it ok?
One for the traffic gurus on the site.
One of my drivers got caught in a bus lane on 20th May 2008.
Today is the 5th June, so that's 16 days.
Does the 14 day rule apply to these fines from Harrow council too?
The PCN issue date is the 3rd June, but I got it in the post 5 minutes ago.
As the title suggests, I received a penalty charge notice (with photographs) of me cutting the end of the bus lane to take the left turn road. No buses anywhere, no chance of holding one up, but the photo shows I was in the lane for 5 seconds. I imagine there's no point in contesting it, but...
Daily Mail columnist, Tom Utley, laments the decision by Lambeth Council for fining him £120 for driving in a bus lane. In his article he says:"The true blame lies with sloppy legislators - we have far too many laws and they are far too complex - and with the police and Crown Prosecution...
...at least if my journey back from the Lakes on the M6 yesterday is anything to go by.
Went up to the Lakes on the bike over the weekend (stayed at the Patterdale Hotel on the southern end of Ullswater fwiw) and had a great time. Only one wet day out of the three we were there, so can't even...
Well well. Now the Olympic venues and the areas around them will be car free zones. But of course not if you are a special person. And you will have up 150 miles of dedicated road to get you there.

Followed the Tom Tom today "take the next left" and so ducked into the Bus Lane expecting to turn left in 50 yeards and turns out to be NO ENTRY.
I had to carry on down the bus lane (because of course no one was going to let me back in) for around 300 yards until the next left (and until Jane...
