    Bus lane fine.

One for the traffic gurus on the site. One of my drivers got caught in a bus lane on 20th May 2008. Today is the 5th June, so that's 16 days. Does the 14 day rule apply to these fines from Harrow council too? The PCN issue date is the 3rd June, but I got it in the post 5 minutes ago.

£60 fine for 5 seconds in a bus lane

As the title suggests, I received a penalty charge notice (with photographs) of me cutting the end of the bus lane to take the left turn road. No buses anywhere, no chance of holding one up, but the photo shows I was in the lane for 5 seconds. I imagine there's no point in contesting it, but...

Mail Columnist Grumbles About Being Fined For Driving In A Bus Lane

Daily Mail columnist, Tom Utley, laments the decision by Lambeth Council for fining him £120 for driving in a bus lane. In his article he says:"The true blame lies with sloppy legislators - we have far too many laws and they are far too complex - and with the police and Crown Prosecution...

It seems membership of the Middle Lane Owners Club is increasing...

...at least if my journey back from the Lakes on the M6 yesterday is anything to go by. Went up to the Lakes on the bike over the weekend (stayed at the Patterdale Hotel on the southern end of Ullswater fwiw) and had a great time. Only one wet day out of the three we were there, so can't even...

Drivers face £5k VIP lane fines

Well well. Now the Olympic venues and the areas around them will be car free zones. But of course not if you are a special person. And you will have up 150 miles of dedicated road to get you there. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/212172/olympic_roads_row.html "Proposed...

Bus Lane in Shoreditch - fine???

Followed the Tom Tom today "take the next left" and so ducked into the Bus Lane expecting to turn left in 50 yeards and turns out to be NO ENTRY. I had to carry on down the bus lane (because of course no one was going to let me back in) for around 300 yards until the next left (and until Jane...

    Bmw Lane

The other day I was cruising along as usual coming onto one of my motorways, which was very busy with inferior cars. First off, I couldn’t believe that the volume of traffic DIDN’T slow down for me AT ALL as I came off the slip road! I had to squeeze into a barely big enough gap between two...

    Motorway lane discipline

Once again driving on the M1 at the weekend I found myself on the inside lane drifting past people in the middle lane who showed no inclination to move over. I'm wondering how the law applies in this instance. Clearly, if you're travelling in the outside lane and use the middle lane to...

    Pick a lane, any lane

Well, I have been looking forward to the opening of our glorious 5-lane M25 section for some time. It has finally happened. We all know how some idiots drive in lane 2 - the middle lane - of a 3-lane carriageway for miles, whilst lane 1 remains empty. When the M25 4-lane section opened, I...

Outside lane of the M3...not a place to lose your boost pressure!

Clattering down the M3 yesterday in 'ze leedle tank', I'm squeezing the throttle on to go up the hill, to the result of a rather large bang, and practically zero power. My instant thoughts are ' there goes the turbo' followed by 'My, isn't a naturally aspirated 2.5 diesel slow when...

Bus Lane fine - can I get out of it

Got done by a bus lane camera and received the PCN in the post yesterday. Says the offence was on 20 April, date of issue of notice was 3 May, and I received it on 5 May. I thought I read somewhere that you had to receive the PCN within 2 weeks of the offence. Any views given that the PCN...

A great move - one up the middle lane hangers

Leaving London on the Westway. Usual band of middle lane hoggers sitting pretty, completely and utterly oblivious to their surroundings and all content to sit there because (a) thats what the car in front is doing and (b) about 3 miles away there is a HGV on the inside lane. That jams up the...
