    2016 Olympic Games.

Opening ceremony tonight. Shame about the time difference but I imagine highlights coverage will be extensive. Looking forward to seeing the Brits collect as many medals as possible. Good luck boys & girls. :thumb:

    Empty Seats at Olympic Venues

I think those who have already taken their seats 10min before the start of the event should be allowed to "upgrade" to the empty (and usually more expensive) seats. Then allow those outside wishing to attend take whatever seats are left. The seats have already been paid for so, no money lost?

Who here is actually going to a live Olympic event

I am not. I have no interest in it whatsoever and don't want to buy into it. Others may do. PS, read this thread. A lot here are quite keen photographers and carry fairly high end equipment LONDON 2012 - CAMERAS, BAGS, RESTRICTIONS, ETC - PLEASE POST HERE - Page 4 - Talk Photography Be VERY...

What did you make of the olympic opening..

..ceremony ? for me, as a Yorkshireman I would say "mint". If I was an American there would be several air punches and shouting of "f@ck yeah" !! It was enjoyable and just on the right line between emotional and mawkish..

    Another Olympic Games shambles ...

Tonight's game of football at Hampden has been delayed as the North Korean team are refusing to play. They have my sympathy. Downside is that I reckon I'm within the blast zone of the nuclear warhead that will no doubt be en route ...

Any of you London boys affected by the Olympic traffic chaos

Is the traffic as bad as it is been portrayed on the news or is there a touch of journalistic bull involved?

    Lighting the Olympic flame

Apologies for raising an Olympic thread, but who do we think will be lighting the flame at the opening ceremony? My own personal choice would be Her Majesty given that it's Jubilee year and all that. Over to you folks......

    Olympic lunacy

I tried to think of something witty to say about it, but nothing could do justice to the inspired genius that came up with this: The scary thing is not only did somebody think it was a good idea, his boss agreed with him.

    G4S and Olympic fails

For this alone the CEO should be boiled in oil: "You love your job and the people too Making a difference is what you do But consider all you have at stake The time is now don't make a mistake Because the enemy prowls, wanting to attack But we're on the wall, we've got your back...

BMW Olympic Art Cars 2012 (photo intensive)

OK, so not the famous 'official' BMW cars of the '70s and '80s, but art cars nonetheless. And I guess in keeping with the BMW Olympic marketing exercise! In an arrangement with my son's school and the local BMW showroom, the arty pupils were selected and invited to participate in an event...

    Olympic torch

Just watched the torch go past ...living in Cornwall we get the chance to see it first . What a spectacle ..I have never seen such a waste of money in my life ...hundreds of police, I lost count of the number of police cars , vans and motorcycles and those on foot patrol .Oh nearly forgot the...

    Olympic "Food Vision" published

http://www.london2012.com/documents/locog-publications/food-vision.pdf I know it's a helluva read, but am I alone in finding this a bit, well, just vacuous tripe? It's a bit worrying to see McDonalds, Coca-Cola and Cadbury being puffed up in a document peppered with this twadle. "While...

Is beach volleyball a genuine Olympic sport?

Having seen a mention of this in a particular thread, I was just wondering what the panel's opinion is of this as an "Olympic sport" in its purest sense. ...and can anyone suggest a technical reason as to why the participants "kit" needs to be so brief? We don't see the female shot putters...

    More Olympic nonsense...

Just been watching the latest non event of the Olympic Games - no medals for anyone there, I thought... Der der...one year to go to the best games ever (??), in the best city in the world (??). Their very predictable words, not mine. Whatever, in reality TODAY was a nothing event (IMHO) and it...

    Buying Olympic tickets online

According to todays papers, VISA is the only card you can use to buy tickets. Also, you must make sure your card is valid until September for it to be accepted for payment. If you are like me and your card expires between now and the end of August, then you must get a new card with an expiry...

BBC Olympic arrivals coverage is AWFUL

I'm watching the BBC cobble together coverage of the team arriving home. The camera work is all over the place, the narration is dreadfully unplanned - it's all so unprofessional. Same with BBC News and Breakfast - supposedly top drawer broadcast - no way. Glitchy, wrong cameras looked at, sound...

    Olympic Medals tables

So, the Americans are counting total medals, not just Golds, to work out who is leading. Well two can play at that game. Thus I give you the real Olympic Medal Table. Huzzah!
