So I’m looking to replace the poly v belt. Has anyone come across a guide for this on the E class.
I’ve tried looking around and come across some for the same engine but in different Model Mercs.
By looking at it the procedure seems to be:
-Remove the dual air intake Y piece...
I have just tackled this today so took the opportunity to detail the work for others to refer to.
The job took no longer than 45 mins.
You will need a:
17mm Socket
10mm Socket
8mm Socket
Torx drive about 4mm (sorry I didn't look).
I have drawn up a diagram as well to refer to the...
As above really, my wagon has 175k, do people have a good supplier of OEM bushes or have poly bushes been used reliable? IE not wearing out quickly which I've experienced before..
I suppose I'll have to make some bush extractor tools also..
Is there a guide out there on how to do this on a 2006 c class?
Will I need any special tools? Am I likely to find other issues/need other parts? The belt is cracked from age.
I found this, that for a GL. Is it the same prcedure and as easy as that seems...

Hi - trying to identify whining/whistling noise from front of engine so was planning to remove belt and spin the various pulley's - see if any are noisy or sounding rough. What is correct procedure? Would imagine either idler pulley or tensioner but need advice.
Mucho appreciated :thumb:
Yes, I know this is supposed to be really easy but I am stumped.
The idea is that you slacken off the tensioner by turning this bolt counter-clockwise, yes?
But what sort of bolt is it? And it seems to be in a bit of a sorry state.
Is there another way?
Just checking the tyre pressures and engine oil before a little road trip to the Lake District this weekend and I noticed the front 15% or so of the poly belt is frayed.
It is frayed evenly the whole length of the belt - the side that's nearest to you when looking at it with the bonnet...
Hi guys,
My mum was on her way over to us for xmas, when she suddenly lost power steering and dash lit up all RED with warnings of this that and the other.
Recover guy comes out and says fan belt broken and tightener pulley also broken.
So when the Jesus event is over, I'll be getting a...
Well iv got my water pump now and everything looks straight forward but i still have one question for you better in the know people. How do i release the tension on the poly belt please ? i notice there is a torx male anti tamper bolt in the middle of the tensioning roller so planning on...
The job for this weekend is to change out that rattling tensioner on the front of the engine . Unfortunately , this is not covered in my W124 Haynes manual .
First off , the method of releasing tension from the poly belt is not immediately obvious - am I missing something glaringly obvious ...
Hi, What is the schedule for a mercedes poly v belt.
A guy on the other side has a Vito 115 and one snapped at 325000 Kilometres,
No surprise there, but it has full history.
Any Idea at what milage or age it should be changed at?
Hi,
I realise that vehicles this engine is fitted to, such as 2006 onwards E320 CDI, have computer calculated service intervals. However, if anyone has WIS, please can you let me know what the stated change interval for the 'Poly V-Belt' (serpentine belt at the front of the engine) is?
I...
At my car's last service I was told that the poly v belt was wearing and should be changed, as the bill was already quite significant, I said that I would get it done later.
How critical is this?
How easy/difficult is it to check it for myself?
TIA
Here are some pics of some new poly bushes for my C43 That I have fitted to some new lower arms for the front end.
These bushes are top quality and are fully adjustable unlike the standard items. I am yet to fit them to the car and have the alignment done.
These bushes are available for most...
