The coolant temp needle on my SEC has all of a sudden become really twitchy. It will sit at the correct temperature for a while and intermittantly flick back to zero. Im guessing its the sensor, a connector or the insrtument cluster. There are 2 or 3 sensors near the water pump, any ideas which...
We are having a little heatwave here.
I got in the car today and the outside temp gauge was reading 45.5 degrees centigrade.
We are looking at the same temp for the next week or 2.
Anyone seen any hotter?
I have a fluctuating temp guage and have no idea whether this is a 'normal' w124 fault or if it has a simple solution.

According to my internal temp gauge its minus 7 today although the BBC weatherman swears blind its 16 degree's.
Were is the external temp sensor on the CE220 as i think it needs changing and does anyone know how much they are ( Genuine mercedes parts only please )

Noticed that the temp on my S211 doesn't go over 80 deg C even after a good half hour m way driving.
Been looking at couple of other threads and seems common problem that temp senders go faulty.
Question is, how easy is it to replace?
Do I need to drain out the coolant first...
Does anyone think this problem could be the Interior Temp Sensor ?
My symptoms are every now and again the blower comes on full power and heat for about 10 mins, I have no control over the fan speed or temp, they both come on full.
I've changed the blower regulator so it not that.

I have a non aircon C200 and according to haynes I should have 2 coolant temp sensors. One for the gauge and one for the fuel system. Euro car parts also offered me the two separate sensors.

I have a w124 e280 104 95, that has developed an erratic temp gauge fault it jumps around most of the time while driving.
It will scoot up to well over 100, and then drop like a stone to just above 80.....and it does this all the time now, oil pressure is good and the car runs...
This is a job which I keep meaning to get around to!
My external temp gauge tells me all sorts of weird temps, and I've been told it is the sensor which needs replacing.
Does anyone have one please? Will one from another model fit my W124?

Quick story bought car 16 mths ago, ran hot, bought new viscous hub, temp now sits at a needles width above the 80 degc and stays there only rising slighlty in traffic.
