    W210 Door Mirror Theft Problem

Has anybody else out there been the victim of door mirror theft? I couldn't believe the fact that MB designed them with three philips head screws revealed when retracted. All it takes is for someone to unscrew them and unplug the wire and they are away. Over £1000 for a pair. It has now...

    Petty theft in Herts

During the past fortnight, my car and a friend's MB have been stripped of their dustcaps: larger hexagonal ones that are easier to handle. Yesterday, a black laurel-leaf centre cap was prised off my car. It looks like these incidents happened in Whitwell during daytime, the other possibility...

WARNING DO NOT BE A VICTIM LIKE ME. Theives managed to get in from the front UPVC front door of my home. At about 3am this morning. Police told me that they use a device through the letter box to push the inside door lever in. If I had locked the door with a key inside then there would...

Theft & fraud in the Workplace.

I've seen and heard a lot of things in my time about theft and fraud in the workplace. I can think of at least 6, instances and I'll start with this one. Around 12 years ago, a lady I know worked in the reception area at one of the Manchester Airport hotels. One day a large truck...

    Attempt at theft

Some lowlife has had a go at my E300 TT in the lock-up garage that it sometimes occupies. They failed, but ruined the fuel flap and damaged its surrounding edges. Is that area of the car an obvious target for a security breach or do you reckon they were just after the fuel? Someone here will...

    Do HPI reports show theft?

I'm going to look at a car tomorrow at a garage and I have found out from the previous owner that the car was stolen from him. Apparently by the time it was recovered, his insurance company had already paid out and he had another car. So the insurance company sold it through an auction to the...

Attempted Theft of my car - Need Advice

Hello chaps, Some lowlife tried to break into the car last night. Me and my wife went to my brothers house to see his new born baby and stayed there for the night. When we planned to leave for home at 11am morning, I saw that some SON **************** had smashed the window with a possible...

    Legalised Theft

So there's my nice W208CLK parked in the car park at work when a large tile slides off the roof of our leased office and lands in (not on) my nice shiny bonnet. Contacted the buildings owners and am ensconced in a claim. I have had a quote of just under £1k for the repairs and have just...

    Attempted theft of the SEC

I was working on the car quite late last night fixing the misfire problem. By the time i finished it was close to midnight so i didn't bother putting the car in the garage, as i wanted to take it back up first thing in the morning. At 3am i heard a noise outside, i'm normally a heavy sleeper...

    Cat Theft (not a typo)

There have been no end of thefts of Catalysts 'round here recently. All seem to be over-night and many from 4x4s (obvious height advantage). Is there any way you might be able to prevent this? I understand my local scrappy pays £40/50 a unit for the platinumn.

Biometric passports: increased risk of identity theft

And this is supposed to help? Three million Britons have been issued with the new hi-tech passport, designed to frustrate terrorists and fraudsters. So why did (we) find it so easy to break the security codes? "I was amazed that they made it so easy, the information contained in the chip...

    More identity theft....

A couple of weeks ago my wife received some insurance paperwork through the post for a credit card we didn't know anything about. We rang the card issuer and found that a card had been applied for in her name and address and DOB but incorrect employment details. So luckily we got in contact in...

    Needed after a theft

My son borrowed my spring compressor this weekend past. Some thieving person (trying to be polite here) borrowed it for keeps along with my sons tools from the boot of his car. So if anyone here has one and no longer needs it I would be able to give it an excellent home. Thanks. <edit> its the...

    Theft proof plates

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5032858.stm I can't help but think, "What's the point?", if someone just makes a note of a plate and car model/colour, they can get plates made cheaply from a number of internet based companies... That way the poor victim doesn't even know their car has been cloned...
