Good day t'all.
The gauge is always dipping under 80, and unless in traffic remains there, so I've ordered a new thermo. I have searched the forum for advice on refitting, I have only found tidbits, do I need to empty the coolant before I do this, (don't fancy doing that).
Much appreciated...
I’ve just done a run out to Newbury and back and at an indicated 80mph the engine temp never went over 70º ish with a 20º ambient, so I dropped into my friendly dealership and purchased the most expensive thermostat ever ~£50 but it does come replete with a new housing, sender and seal! so when...

My 2000 C280 V6 has all the symptoms of a slightly sticking thermostat. One of the indy's I've used says he's never changed a stat on a M112 engine, which I find surprising. He has warned me that attempting to do this may result in having to replace the water pump assembly. Frankly, I think this...
I think it is, my E320 used to run consistently at 80c, except in heavy traffic, now it is running sometimes at about 70 then without any reason about 90. I assume this is not a job for an incompetent?
Everything else seems fine.
Hi, I fitted a new thermostat as it wasn't reaching above about 70 deg.
The new unit has an extra connection, but i just blocked it off. Should this be connected somewhere, or can i leave it as is?

Hi,
I've recently bought a 99 Vito 108Cdi, and very happy I am with it too.
However, there a few issues that need addressing, and I'm hoping someone may be able to help on here....
1. Coil light won't go out - not a biggy
2. Rev counter not working - annoying but again, not a biggy (?)

The thermostat has been playing up for a little while, sometimes sticking open causing low engine temps, so I bought one with the intention of replacing it when time allowed.
The car however, had other ideas!
On the way home last sunday evening the water pump bearing collapsed and threw the aux...
I'm running too cool - sometimes never really reaches 50/60 degrees. Therefore, concluded thermostat needs replacing.
Can these be done DIY if you are reasonably competent or best put with an Indy?
Euro Car Parts have new thermostats for £50 or so... Best price around?
Firstly, apologies for the grammar etc, im writing this using the iphone!
Car drives perfectly, but when driving on the motorway the temp reads around the 60 mark and then today I'd been driving about town for approx 25 mins (temp at 75-80), when I got out the car to talk to my mechanic about...
Car is a 2005 C220 W203
Over the last few months I've started noticing that the mpg had dropped, this morning I kept an eye on the temp and it never moved from a fraction over 60 on the motorway.
Does this mean the thermostat has gone?
Having now owned our first ever Mercedes for just over 3 months, I have found this site invaluable.
During the cold weather the temp gauge has sat at 60 and following the forum, bought a new thermostat from MB £35.60 that I intend fitting tomorrow.
I rang the indie garage down the road from me...
Am I being a bit picky, or is it a bit serious, that the Thermostat I just got from MB is in a housing that seems to have been cast by kids on 'bring a kid to work day'.
here's a pic
I think i'm worrying too much but having worked in an industry where we did castings for Rail equipment and...
Hi all,
I hope everyone is well.
I recently travelled 45 miles in the evening the other day and the temeperature outside was reading 5. I noticed that through the whole trip my temperature guage went from 40 to 70 tops.
The vehicle is a 2003 ML270 CDI
Could this be a possible fault with...
Evening guys,
the temp on my ml270 hasnt got above the mid mark between 40 and 80 on the temp gauge for a couple of weeks,so on saturday i replaced thermostat and now lovely and warm at slightly above 80.where i am working at the moment is a 120 round trip and i generally get 3 days from a...
I need a new thermostat for my 2003 w203 c180 coupe. There is however a distinct lack of them online! Would one from a larger model work, such as this...
Got a weird problem with my W124 E220. When driving along in the city/motorway, the temp gauge sits nicely around 80/90 mark.
As soon as I get stuck in traffic, it slowly starts going up, and the last time it went up as high as 100-110
Then it goes down again, when I start moving...
