....for those with camera phones. To check if the IR led is working, point the keyfob at the camera on the phone. You should be able to see the led flashing. This can also be used to test your TV remote. (No, I don't mean point your keyfob at the TV remote) :)

My W203 key only used to open/close my drivers door when using the remote key fob. Another press would open the other doors. However if you press the top button and the bottom left button together on the key fob for ten seconds (you'll see a red light flash twice on the key fob) it will change...
