(readily available on google for free !!) for £160 plus postage

At least the free one gives you more

• Enable MP3 playback
• Enable the playback of multi-region disks and DVDRW
• Modify many more hidden features

I suspect you plug something in which has no effect then just go to the engineering menu with the pdf file instructions and change the settings

He says it's something you have to plug into the car and a quick Google search of garages which do it suggests something beng plugged in too.

Not necessary, all you need is to open the engineering menu then the "secret menu"

Best not to try it as its perhaps not legal and dangerous when driving, and been discussed at length by others before

It had a question mark so it was a question. I did it that way to allow you to actually substantiate your original post. Not forming a question would have been more harsh and provocative.

If you notice, the cars reffered to are 03/2008 onwards and as far as I know (could be wrong!) these are the new style comand units and they take their "engineering" functions from the audio gateway. The functions that the fabled PDF refers to stopped working on late 2005 / early 2006 comands.

So, it could be genuine. Not that I would buy one mind, just want to make that clear.

I bought one from him a while back, it is a Box that plugs into the OBD port and essentially does what the secret menu would, excpet that I cant get into that menu. This Does work although I now have disabled the feature.
