On my W203 Coupe, is this reasonable? Having only had a B with this garage before and my last A was on a different car (and through a Mercedes specialist, not the dealership)

How much cheaper would I get it, if I tried?

Any opinions welcome :thumb:

I was quoted £225 for an A service on my W203, but they also wanted £179 for a brake fluid change & a set of plugs:mad:

I went to my local garage who are very, very good, they have all the plug in gizmos etc, assyst has been reset. They charged me £135 for the service including parts & a pollen filter (not on MB service) & £25 for the brake fluid change, we both agreed that with 22K on the clock from new, the suspicion that the plugs could have been changed at an earlier service by MB & the fact that there is no starting/running problems, it seemed an unnecessary replacement.

So, £404 or £160 (without plugs) a lot of difference for a pretty stamp in the book IMHO.

As has been mentioned here - supplying your own oil to MB spec. Knock off £60.00 and watch they do not fill up your screenwash and plip batteries - they will add another £11.00 between them

Is supplying your own oil something that dealers accept as common practice? Ill ring them tomorrow and see whether theyll make a.difference. What would those on here recommend I use should I do so?

Not heard of a dealer not happy for customer to supply own oil. Any bg name fully synthetic whic meets MB spec will be fine. Mobil1 from Costco is cheap but the 25% discount code (mbclub25) from eurocarparts might be worth a look too.

I have supplied my own oil both at Harrogate & Stockport - as long as it meets MB spec. - it will be in your manual - or else look on Opie oils site - it will tell recommend the correct oil for your model of MB - you can pick it up anywhere - I got the oil for my car from Asda - I seem to remember it was Castrol Edge Synthetic.Just ring them up and ask the cost of the service if oil is supplied according to the handbook.
