£5,000 plug in grant news!!!

We've been told that the only car we can now order with the grant is the B class electric drive
Really thats unreal mercades really need to sort this problem or they will lose customers , what I don't understand is I can order a C350e estate sport with grant from lease company and they have a 10 month wait ,how can that be

bit confused, the gov official grants lists the C350e still on there last updated 10th April
www.gov.uk/plug-in-car-van-grants/eligibility
i must admit when I was still going for one(cancelled order some months ago and ordered an Audi as MB had no clue as to when I would get it) i did wonder how it could be on the list when it's electric range was 19 miles not 20!

As I explained, they're telling us not to sell them with the grant in anticipation of the grant running out before delivery. The grant applications are only valid for 9 months, so I actually think it's wise what they are doing. Lease companies are going to end up in the **** if they're not careful!

I think you are wise! Some folks are going to end up in a whole world of trouble

Just for my curiosity I checked Nationwide's web site and I note they have dropped the C350e from their list. I suspect they don't want people messed around which at least is admirable from their point of view.

This hole thing is a joke and never mine the lease companies being **** Mercedes are going to be ***** , there not going to sell any C350e now are they ,who would buy it with out grant

What do you mean? It's good value without the grant, comparing it to competitors. If the grant didn't exist, I'm sure it would still sell well. It's too cheap now in my opinion

I agree with you, I do believe it is competitive. What is a bigger issue is the complete underestimation of demand and subsequent supply restrictions. To be fair that may have caught out any other brand, but I still think, rightly or wrongly, Mercedes will suffer as a consuquence of negative PR, probably not to Mercedes enthusiasts, but to those who were tempted to the brand by the C350e and now will go elsewhere. Just my opinion, it's a shame.

It is good value but will people buy it knowing the grant is there but can't have it because Mercedes cant hit requirements , Mitsubishi is better value for money and they can deliver with grant but it is dog ugly ,, I do really like the C350e that's the problem ..dam you Mercedes

Well only you can decide if the good looks are worth £5000 to you ;)

interesting just priced 70d on the lease scheme and its significantly more expensive than the C350e (£270 more!)

So rules that out :(

Other option is the Golf GTE, which I drove this week, its a very nice drive, Dual Clutch is very smooth, performance is good (Not as quick as C350e however), but.... it is just a Golf... A nice Golf yes.... but doesn't excite me like the Merc :( But is circa £50 per month less

Audi etron A3... No not for me (Golf but more boring :) )
Outlander PHEV ... good car, but Im not a jeep person
Nissan Leaf...... er no :) Kids would laugh at me, I'm sure its a good car, but no
BMW i3...... Is another option as similar price to the c350e and drives well, odd looking, but range, even with extender is not ideal, but is an option

When I priced it it was only £100 more than C350e ..the model x is out soon with sea gull doors there is some good prices on A Class and b class if that's any intrest to you

Part of the problem is that worldwide demand has been so high, hence the lead time has gone through the roof.
Earlier comments on this page saying they won't sell any is just rubbish... Sure, they'll sell less in the UK while the grant is in limbo or not available, but the lead time will surely come back down over time. As a company worldwide, they will (and have!) sell plenty!

I'm grateful mine will come through in time, survey done etc. I knew the price was so good I had to jump on it back in April, it was THAT good. I'm not at all surprised it's basically blown for now.
I too, took it off our website as soon as we received the update.

The Tesla X--- quoting from the website. The delivery estimate for new
reservations is late 2016

I imagine the delay on the C350e is primarily down to the supply of the battery pack and the new inline electric motor. sounds as if there's been a few problems there???
