hello all, new to all this and looking for a bit of help. my c220 is drawing air from somewhere the only indication for this is when im driving and the turbo kicks in it also exhausts an awful lot of black smoke when turbo kicks in. some time it goes into limp mode i presume this is because the air and fuel mixture is wrong. has anyone ever had this problem??

Sounds as if one of your flexible turbo inlet pipes is split or leaking. A careful visual inspection of the pipe work should reveal the problem

As well as a spilt pipe look for a split in the intercooler and signs of leakage at the exhaust joint caused by a blocked cat.
Another possibility is the EGR valve is sticking open so causing a lack of air.

firstly thanks lads for the speedy response, dieselman it sounds like an egr valve sticking because there is defineitely no leaks in intercooler or pipes is there an easy fix for this or is it a case of replacing it, any idea of how much it costs to replace it.

Try the air mass too.

ya tried the air mass meter thats fine. think its sounding very like the erg valve sticking, is this a common fault?? have any of yea ever heard of this happening?
