02 W210 Estate rear wiper has mind of its own.

The rear wiper on my 2002 W210 estate is operating imtermittently regardless of the wiper switch setting.

At this rate I'll either use a wiper blade every month of 10lts of screen wash.

I have also noticed that one of the rear lights is dimmer thank the other one.


Any suggestions please?

Bad earth or worn connection/wiring in the tailgate loom?

Have a look at the loom where it leaves the body and joins the tailgate, could be worn through?

Car had a new tailgate courtesy of MB last year.
I went to check and the pear-shaped grommet that houses the cables had been inserted upside down thus the cabling was twisted.

Untwisted then inserted grommet correctly and problem solved.
