Have had the car serviced and had a new high pressure pump fitted but am still having cold start problems. The car is great after I start it with Holts easy start. She will start up all day its just the mornings - it starts and then dies and then wont start unless I give it a shot of easy start. Have read that it could be falty fuel lines/seals. Have cleaned the MAF but still having the same problem. Have also read that it could be the cam sensor can any one tell me where this is on the engine any advice most welcome

cdi270 starts then stops

Hi, this is exactly the same problem that i had, there are 3 plastic fuel lines the problem was the one from the fuel filter to pump £16 from merc's or you can replace the rubber o ring seals 6 all together 75pence each +vat

If they replaced the pump they should have replaced the lines as above. You need to do a leak off test on your injectors as 1 faulty injector would cause this.

Hi, and thanks for the advice, had the three fuel lines replaced, this has fixed the cold start problem, she starts first time now.

New problem

The car starts OK now, the new problem is when I accelerate I hear a whooshing sound in the engine bay similar to a fast flow of air being sucked through a pipe on the passenger side behind the dash and then I see a big grey/black smoke cloud behind me, the size of the cloud depending on how severe I accelerate . Any thoughts?

Now that will deffinatly be the black intercooler pipe next to the passenger headlight, there will be a tiny split in it, best way to check is to get someone in it with park brake on and put it in drive and bring the revs up. You should here and feel the leak from the pipe.

Hi,

I have the same problem with my 2003 C 270 CDi.

Could you please let me know which 'o' ring seals or "pipes" in this diagram needs to be changed (what numbers)?

Thank you.

If you call up Mercedes they will know which fuel lines you need. They are the usual three plastic fuel lines that always leak! If I recall they range from about £12 to about £30.

Thanks for the reply.

I was hoping that that someone can tell me which parts from the the top diagram (posted by guitarbiker above) I should be looking at?

Thanks.
