when I kick down my cdi c200 it throws the EML and goes in to limp

plugged it in to OBD reader with torque app and it came bk with P0123

1) upon inspecting the kickdown switch I took it out and it isn't plugged in to anything?! does it even do anything?! does it transmit the signal wirelessly??

2)I stuck some 2p's over the switch so it cant be depressed and concequently the gas pedal cant be depressed to full travel... went for a cruise and it seems to have cured the problem, the car kicks down and doesn't throw EML or limp?!

lol why is the car still kicking down when the switch cant be depressed??

does it sound more likely that the pedal pot is knackered?

cheers to anyone that can help

More likely the throttle pedal itself, don’t think the switch does anything other than give the impression of a switch on these.

Replace the whole pedal assembly with a working one.
Could be the pedal position sensor is faulty.

its a dummy switch which gives driver only physical feedback kick down is engaged. Position sensor (its double hall sensor) detetcs pedal tarvel rate and commands ecu to kick gear down.

Cool so the switch doesn't do anything.

It seems to give just the same performance must only be losing 3/5% throttle... Am I at risk of ****ing anything up by just keeping penny's over the switch and not letting it hit WOT?

New pedals are cheap enough to buy. Get it from your local MB dealer.

check a part number, pedal is easily dismounted (one nut and electeric connector)

I bought my W211 pedal 2nd hand (same part in W203 and W220 btw)
