Well Im starting to realise there is a problem with the coil springs on Mercs. Its a case of 'when' rather than 'if' . Last year I had a spring snap on my 06 E 220 while parked up. Yesterday drove the 07 CLS to work, everything fine, lunchtime everything fine, went out to go home at 5pm from corner sitting on its nose. Again, snapped coil spring when parked up. The car can be driven\nursed to my trusted mechanic 3 miles away at a 20mph limit and a snails pace round corners. I know there are a million variations of springs for Mercedes ( colour coded I believe ) but Ive told him just to fit whatever EurocarParts supply for the year and model. So long as it works. I usually change my are every year and Ive had this one 6 months so far so longevity isn't an issue for me. Gutted. It could seriously put me off another Mercedes and this is my 7th.
