Just found in a house move my original brochure for the W220 V12 444bhp S63 AMG, 1 of 70 made, must be very rare as a brochure if anyone likes these
Most do not know this exists. never officially advertised, special order only, apparently €272,000!!!
Only 70 were made globally as a tribute to the 300SEL 6.3/6.8 AMG Red Pig/Rote Sau.
Do not confuse this with the common and mass produced S63 V8 engine series that came later, this was a car AMG made to special order like the SL73 AMG R129, S73 AMG W140 Saloon & Estate, similar CL63 AMG V12 C215 (26 made), W202 C55 AMG, G63 V12 (same engine as this)
For only one month in 2001, AMG created a V12-powered S-Class solely for certain European and Asian markets, presumably for those select potentates and dictators who could hardly endure the shame of being driven around on only 8-cylinders. 4 pots and nearly 100hp separate the S63 AMG from the S55, even though the stopwatch shows only a few tenths advantage for the heavier car.
Based on the 5.8L V12 used in the S600 and CL600, the S63's engine has a larger displacement, a new management system, a new crank case and cooling system, weight-optimized pistons, and a new camshaft with greater valve lift and modified valves.
390lb-ft of torque are available between 2500-5800rpm with a peak of 457 at 4400 rpm while horsepower grows by almost 80 over the S600.
