I see on another forum that in the USA:

“Extended Limited Warranty on SBC Hydraulic Units” now provides coverage for 10 years / unlimited mileage. Recall campaigns 2005110001 & 2005070007 have both been revised accordingly."

Letters will be sent to owners of 2003-2006 211; 2006 219; and ALL 230 vehicles informing them of the new extended warranty

Can anyone confirm this? Good news if true

USA W211 owners have reported fewer SBC issues than european owners.

This is most probably because the driving dynamics in the USA are different - drivers, on average, brake fewer times per hundred miles as the traffic/road conditions are different than ours.

So, 10 year SBC warranty for the USA will not lose MB any real money.

I'd like to agree with you, but htat would not be fair or right.

First off the US market has been the most vocal about SBC. The complaints have mainly NOT been about reliability, but more about the braking is not to their liking.

Secondly the US SBC system is an extremely cut back limited version of this excellent system. All they had was the very bare bones braking without the very beneficial options. SBC Hold and SBC Stop.

DaimlerChrysler tend to listen to the US complaints, but thankfully they have not forced the ugly, impractical centre console onto us. All US 211's have an ugly centre console that is designed to hold a bigger drinks container. If you haven't seen one, then your lucky. :)
