Visited MSL yesterday with the C43, chatted with Acid and Imran about what can be done for the car with some exhaust mods. We reckon an extra 106 bhp can be achieved with the use of sports cats and a resonator delete. Brilliant  !!

(Oh yeah, forgot to mention, the existing cats are blocked and on the dyno the car only managed 200bhp - the extra 106 will just be restoring what the blocked cats are sapping... though maybe a handful on top :D)

My first visit to MSL...This is a good place to go with your Merc, especially if you like coffee, Sheena made me at least a gallon while I was there!

Good there innit. :D Wasn't sure about the power claims till I saw your next bit. :)

Should theoretically free the excess back pressure and make the system flow a lot easier

My first visit to MSL...

Hopefully not your last visit, there's a Dyno day coming up on the 09 August.

Lazy bag never makes me a brew. Having said that, she can't get near the kettle as I'm always by it. :bannana:

Love you Sheena if you happen to be reading this. :)

Stage one of getting the C43 back to full power is getting the knock sensors off my 5.4 lump (which will go into the car eventually). The diagnostics at MSL also suggested a problem with these. A bit of a pain, they're under the blinking plenum chamber. Wasn't too bad a job as this engine is on a stand. Not really looking forward to putting the sensors onto the engine in the car!

Don't decat the car, I'm sure you will lose mid range torque. You will probably gain a bit top end, depends what you want.

Very lucky to have such good Merc Specialists close by
I bet the car will feel like a different beast after !!

is it primary or secondary that are blocked ?

Primaries are blocked. Secondaries have already been deleted by a previous owner.

Hoofin' mid range is more me than ultimate top end figures!

Well, I got the plenum chamber up just enough to get at the knock sensors and straight away saw that one of the leads was actually broken off! Unplugged them both and pulled the lead out from the back of the engine so I could solder the wires back together.
Only snag was when I dropped a plastic clip down one of the inlet ports . Once that was retrieved, everything went back together ok, so I took her for a spin.
Crikey!! She went like a bluddy rocket! What a difference! Now got the kind of performance she should be producing... by soldering a wire! Cost? Nil. :D
(Obviously I'm still going back down to MSL and Imran for the exhaust mods!)

Great result - makes me want to get a Star check done just out of curiosity to see if any codes stored.
I got fault codes read last year and didn~t pick up any major issues
