Long term member but not very active I'm afraid!
I have a 1982 380SL (RHD imported to the UK from Germany & registered in 1983) and only have one single key. The key itself is much slimmer and rounder than later model 107's which have a flatter body. Does anyone have any ideas where I might locate a spare from? I'm based close to Manchester. Thanks in advance.

Go to the dealer, they should be able to cut you one from the vin. If the locks were ever changed, they should be able to get you a matched barrel and key for the car which should work with the doors.

Hi, my attempt at getting a new key for my 107 ( 1974 vintage) from the Dealers ended in failure. I supplied the VIN, the various proofs of identity required and waited for several months, being told that the key was being cut in Germany. Eventually, the Parts Manager advised me to go to a reputable locksmith and get them to cut a new one.
My key does fit all of the locks on the car though, so I wasn't too worried.

Later R107 keys for an 81 should be a laser cut key which might be harder to duplicate. In any case, there's no reason for not being able to get one. At least a couple of years ago, I had a key made for my W109 6.3 which was ready 2 days after ordering.

If you're still stuck it might be worth calling MB Poole; I think they are still a 'classic' parts dealer and might be able to assist.

I appreciate all of your suggestions folks. I will start with my local dealer (the new Megastore in Stockport) and let you know how I get on.
