I've just acquired myself a 116 - 1979 350SE.

Yep, another banger But someone's got to keep the proper Mercs on the roads.............................:bannana:

Anyone have any knowledge of this V8 lump, and what to look for before I drive it away other than the chain slap and usual H/G warning signs?

I'm paying bottom dollar for a 165k but with MOT/tax motor, so not really bothered. But I need it to get me the 50 miles home.

So much better looking than the 126...........

I had one of those back in '98/'99.

Just like the one in the attached photo, but mine was met blue.

I did loads of miles in it going from Jo'burg to Harare a couple of times, never let me down on the road, but I did have to replace the Water Pump, which cost all of £110 at Mercedes in Jo'burg. Plus they collected and delivered it back to my home FOC.

The only other problem I had with it was the Wiper Stalk, the wipers used to come on occasionally when I had the Headlights on. I never bothered to get it fixed though because I was just about to get rid of it. I just removed the Fuse for the Wipers. It was winter at the time, so hardly any rain.....lol.

Good luck. I only wish I still had it now.
