12 volt ceramic heater questions?

I was wondering if anyone had one of these? and if so what do you think of it?

I've looked at a few online and they are not expensive ... so I was thinking they may be a waste of time, if not even dangerous?

Any views appreciated, I did read about them somewhere but could not find it just now.

Don't waste your money, Maplins were selling them for £7.50 before christmas, the fan is very feeble for a start & the air that passes through them is only heated by a few degrees.

If you try them in a warm car they feel hot, but use them when it is minus 5 and they only heat the air up to minus 1, so not much point to them really.

If you think about it, a small household fan heater is typically a kilowatt (1000W). To get that on 12V would require almost 85 amps!

As Russ says, anything that small running off the cigarette lighter socket is going to be pretty feeble.
