Our 1989 230TE petrol tank has succumbed to the neck rusting problem. I have been looking for an new aftermarket fuel tank, which seems to be a bit difficult to source. My question is although our car is a non-cat model, would a cat model tank fit? Or is the only difference a restricted filler neck, so that a leaded nozzle can't be inserted? This would not be a problem as we run on unleaded all the time anyway.
I am also considering suspension sphere replacement whilst the car is off the road. Does any of the suspension system have to be disturbed to change the tank?
Thanks for any advice.
