124 Keys

Not sure where this should be, and I did a quick search without an obvious reply so..

Our spare key has gone AWOL (I blame Mrs B obviously) and the Crystal Palace key cutting place has disappeared..

Can I get a spare key cut easily or is it a MB order job.

Car is a 1991 C124

you can get the keys from Mb for around £15... they are the best ones as they are cut more accurately and wont damage the barrell..

MB have increased their key prices hugely of late. Nevertheless, I wouldn't go anywhere else for them.

yes they used to be £8 but i got a load recently for the 500E, SEC's etc and they were £15 each.

My local key cutter did one for me and it's been fine over the past year. Cost about £12 IIRC.

They were about £11 for years ( for W123/124/201 etc ) but I just recently got a couple for the W126 and was shocked atthe request for £22.50 apiece !

The average key-cutter/cobbler outfit may not have laser cutting equipment for these keys I would imagine.

My local key cutter can do it, they just use a modified drill version) but the cut is very coarse compared to MB IMO... I had one done and i didnt dare put it into my barrell..

At 15 quid I'll take the MB option.

Getting a blank from ebay and then getting it cut is one action too many to save pennies. I'm too lazy for that
