Does anyone know if there's an aftermarket option that fits a 124???
One of mine is goosed causing both not to work.
I've unplugged one for now but one working sounds pants!
Cheers.

A cheaper source from his own website rather than ebay - weird...

Ray Smith - he used to give a discount for MBClub members, not sure if that still applies.

You can get stock ones from dealers, or used to be able to, for a lot lot less. As the speaker size is tiny, nothing is going to be that great.

See my response to you in classifieds. Mine are available...

i'm sure you can buy very slightly bigger speakers (more commonly found size) and cut the metal surround off with an angle grinder too to fit...

You could chop a hole with an axe too... Either way I would be taking the screen out and looking for safety glasses!!

Bit too much work really due to size limitation... Anything smaller than 6" packs very limited sub-200hz signal...

Rainbow is a bit better than standard I understand for £150+ per pair. Std second hand better value (says a man with some to sell)...

I've made them both work.
I don't know if they changed suppliers but these sound brilliant compared to the ones in my 124 E280

i meant cut the speaker itself, not anything on the car. ie make a larger speaker slightly smaller so it fits the existing hole in the car.

W124 : Don't know if you've resolved your front speaker need : but I got a pair of Pioneer SXE 1025S 180W Co-ax speakers , made to fit : drop straight in, just need to adopt the wiring as per the rainbow photo ? 160 for speakers ? I don't think so . . . .

Now I'm looking to upgrade those for the rear shelf - any ideas for those of us in the real world ?

I ended up getting original ones as they are so tiny so the choice is very limited

I have a standard head-unit, and would definitely prefer to keep this unit to preserve the originality of the car. Would upgrading the speakers without upgrading the head-unit make much of a difference?
