We have had a busy couple of weeks doing a pair of head gaskets on the above car.

Absolute mammouth job that was completed yesterday. The engine had all new seals gaskets and a new engine wiring loom to boot.

Parts availabilty was a nightmare and most bits were back ordered so we took the engine out stripped it down (in a million bits) and three weeks later with all the bits from MB put it back together. It all went so smoothly and I was dead chuffed.

The engineering of this 120 enging is just fabulous. There was not one seized bolt on the whole thing. Every part came off so well.

It was a pleasure. But I am knackered.

I do have some pictures that I will load up soon.

Anyone got another that needs doing?:wallbash:

Can't wait to get it back Olly and to see the pictures! Actually perhaps you could burn them on to a disc for me if you wouldn't mind?

I love it when jobs go like that.

I have a theory:

They're never as bad as you assume before you start, and because you know it's a big/awkward job you end up taking extra care/time - hence it goes smoothly :thumb:

A bit of a different beast (V12) but even I was surprised when I rebuilt the head on one of my old 2.5-16s, every single nut/bolt etc came off/went back on without fuss. And everything was so logically assembled - really satisfying

Looking forward to the pics :)

The 4 cams and one timing chain is the tricky bit.

On the 120 engine there are two sensors for everything so the wiring and vacuum system is a nightmare.

Its over having an MOT atm.

6 days in total.

48 hours total labour.

Can you guess what the book time was?

120 hours?

How come there's no picture of the engine up in the air. ;);)

Guess again.

Car looks great Olly, thanks for uploading the pictures, really can't wait to pick her up now!:bannana:

It was diagnosed by a dealer wasn't it?
