Hi All

I've recently bought a set of aftermarket AMG wheels all 18 x 7.5j to replace my 17" standard wheels on my c220 w204 I didn't realise the rear wheels were 17 x 8.5j does anyone know what size spacers I need to make my 18 x 7.5 fit so the wheel nuts don't stick out and hit my parking brake cable thanks

Hello and welcome . Not sure I understand what you have done here . Are you saying the wheels you have bought 7.5 inches wide when the ones you have taken off were 8.5 inches wide ?

Your car appears to have been supplied with wider rears than the fronts , which is quite normal but you seem to be telling us that you have gone for 7.5's all round.

The length of the wheel bolts should not be an issue if that is the case .

Forgive me if I have misunderstood your question.

By 'aftermarket' do you mean non-OEM wheels? Are you sure the front wheel bolts aren't sticking out as well?
What about the ET of the replacement wheels are they the same as the originals?

I thought that the std 17" wheel sizes weren't staggered sizing, running 235/45/17 all-round, although I can't check that and might be wrong. Are your 17" wheels original-fit?

According to one of my brochures, a 204 C-Coupé, on 18" wheels is listed with 225/40/18 front tyres, 255/35/18 rear, so presumably wider (8.5) rear wheels, possibly with different offset to the front.

If your bolts (assuming you're using the original ones) are protruding it can only be because the wheel hub is a different 'depth' (or has different seating for the bolts) to the original wheels, and without knowing the protrusion/difference it's not easy to say.
Eta(Just seen post above)

Wheel bolts, you mean.

If the depth of the central bosses of the 17" and 18" wheels is the same, if you are looking to move the 17" rear wheels outwards you will need bolts longer than the originals by the depth of the spacers; i.e. 10mm spacers will need 10mm longer bolts. Use the first sticky on this forum to work out what size spacers you need.

I think the OP is saying his wheel bolts are currently sticking out at the rear and wants spacers to effectively bring them back in.
Sounds like the aftermarket wheel boss is a different thickness to the originals. Depending on the ET fitting spacers could cause issues

thanks for your replys
there genuine 18" OEM wheels there ET49 and the standard 17 x 8.5 are ET58 on the rear
sorry if I've not been clear the wheels fit fine on the front I think I need to increase the off set on the back but don't know what size spacers I need

With going from ET58 to ET49 you will be fine

The new wheels will sit out pretty much the same on the rear

Input details into willtheyfit.com to compare

Basically the new wheels are skinnier but they have more poke (lower et) so sit out further

But the wheel bolts are now too long?

thanks for the link I will check it out

yea I'd say so the rear drivers side wheel now makes a clicking clunking noise and after reading a few threads on here I think it's due to the bolts now being to long
I was not aware the bolts would differ

Genuine wheels usually use radius bolts and aftermarket are usually taper

As the new wheels are AMG style i would hope they would use stock radius bolts. You will have to contact the wheel supplier to see which type is used

I would think the wheel bolts would be fine for either setup if the new wheels are for OEM radius bolts

Take a bolt each out of the front and rear wheels. Are they the same length? If not, which is longer? Are they exactly the same - both radiused or both tapered?
