190 evo 2

I'd love one!:)

Not as much as me, when I saw a brand spanking new one driving down Chiswick High Road, I was an accident waiting to happen, couldn't keep my eyes off it. 50+ grands worth then!

I love them, and thought about buying one when I was shopping for my old 190E 16V. I remember that I thought they were too expensive at £30000! (If only I'd had a crystal ball, etc).

Got to say that with relatively little power output and that bodykit, they'd be a bit of a sheep in wolf's clothing. An anti-Q car.

That's why I prefer EVO1 . Slightly subtle

A criticism that could be levelled at all classic cars (and bikes)

They are now 25 years old, so now eligible for import into the US. I expect this is why a number of them have cropped up for sale. Expect prices to rise.

Lovely induction note on the EVO (sadly missing on the 2.5 16).

Apples and Oranges.

Well, I'm trying to say (and failing!) that surely the Evo II looks like it should have a lot more than 235bhp! :D

It's what it does with it ;)

Even a standard cossie is great fun to drive.. Very pure, before the era of electronics that have made fast cars feel sterile

Well, it did. Something in the region of 380Bhp! :D

No, I do get your point and no doubt today people would expect 400bhp or more for the road car. There is several factors to take into consideration with the 'modest' 235Bhp & c.1325Kg to push along. It's a 2.5 road going version, an engine from twenty five years ago which is based on the 2.3-16 thats thirty two years old. The engine as no doubt you know has no VVT or any fancy electronics bar the now very old KE-Jet injection system but still managed just over 92bhp per litre and not a turbo insight.

The BMW E30 M3 2.5 EVO Sport was no different really except it was equipped with EFi and 'only' gave 238Bhp for the road version.

When you think back, M-B had only two cars that had more Bhp and they were a 5l and 5.6l V8's. So that sort of keeps things in context.
