so anywaay...it turns out there was a whole load of stuff to look into and it has been a slow job. Grateful thanks to some of the guys and esp.Will.who posted advice on the thread. The whole of the rear suspension has been rebuilt, also some ball joints and bushes on the front. Cyl reconditioned. Then...I saw and bought another Sportline with leather and factory bodykit and am using that as the donor car, doing as much of it myself as I can. It.is.a.wonderful.car. to work on and I love it! Still lots to do like window motors + bits and cleaning untold...if I knew how to upload a pic I would...

Sounds good .

I rated my standard 2.6 as one of the best cars I've had down the years - I only changed it for the S Class because I needed more interior and boot space once junior came along .

Well done. I too have a 190E Sportline, they are great cars to drive.

W201 2.6 - fantastic cars. I would say that as I have two! Standard one is my every day car, converted to LPG for economy. "Sunday go to meeting car" has Sportline chassis and leather, which is comfortable, fast enough for me and sticks like glue when pushed. Love that engine note when pushed past 4,000 rpm!
